So, for those who may have seen my previous posts about the Jeep… I’ve finally picked up its successor! Now officially in my possession is an X5 G05 M50D! This one was very much a head-over-heart decision. With just 32,000 miles on the clock and sourced through the BMW Approved Used network, it was the lowest-mileage M50d available at the time (and still is), so it was always going to be difficult to ignore. Here we go (god help me! )......for the first time in longer than I can remember, the Spuff fleet will not have a BMW in it. I doubt that will last for long (the motorhome replacement will be either BMW or Porkie flavoured), but for the moment we're placing our trust in the Best of British (a-hem, India). Well, it wouldn't be right owning a Porsche, even a lowly Boxster, and not experiencing the fun on track now would it?? Obviously I won't be taking my little car to the track, they would be a recipe for disaster, so I'm using someone else's Porsches for the fun! Tomorrow I set off with my neighbour Dave in his M3 Touring on a Euro road trip. I am insured on his car which has recently been to AC Schnitzer for a power upgrade that keeps the car in warranty....eeek! We were supposed to part of a driving tour similar to the Scottish trip this time last year however 4 of the cars pulled out having paid their deposits making the trip unviable for the organisers. They did however give us a full refund and a free Eurotunnel crossing so we decided we are... Euro road trip

I am a member of only one other internet based car forum which is Forum5. Unfortunately mainly due to a catalogue of unfortunate disasters including the death in a car crash of it's owner, BMW insisting on removing "BMW" from the forum name and a complete loss of data in a format hosting change the site is no longer viable. They, like here, are a good bunch and I have recommended that they migrate across to BMWLAND.

I've been getting an error code '114 CPS error' on my car recently but apart from a very slight difference in smoothness at tickover there were no obvious symptoms. I switched the sensor from bank 1 to bank 2 and vice versa and the good news is the fault moved over so INPA showed '113 CPS error' so at least I know it's the sensor to replace. I've never replaced either CPS in my 14 years of ownership so undecided if I need to go genuine BMW or not - genuine is around £160 but there... M62 cam position sensor

I'm not quite sure where to start with this one. Driving at 70 on the motorway the ride is just a bit rough. I can just feel a mild shake/vibration, enough to notice but not enough to think the car is going to fall apart! It's not coming through the steering wheel and is fine when braking. All of the front arms were done 2 years or so ago. I dont think its engine related. Knock it in to neutral briefly and it carries on as you are rolling (its an auto). I dont think this is a torque... Rough ride on 2006 e61 520d
