It was a story about how they did that in WWII, after the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I think the idea of positive mutations is kind of cool, like the X-men. But believe me, I would never have tried to make the argument after those bombings. Yikes. I don’t really know how I feel about nuclear power. I haven’t thought about it enough, but for now, if they say that they have made it safe in a way that failure shuts things down rather than allowing a meltdown, then using it for power sounds way better to me than using it for warfare.

Good Morning… So I applied that BetterRDP from GitHub and it had no change in just those two functions or screens we use in this program. I’m still going to leave it in place as it probably can’t hurt. But today I’m focused with senior management wanted me to move these three users back to a local copy of this program and rely on a quality copy over VPN of their job at the end of the day, which has well over 2,000+ files and can be a GB or more in size. I’m probably going to do it through some automation in Powershell but it kind of stings when the senior management says I’m not being creative enough and making this work especially now that I finally have a second person on my team. That might make for a good Mindfulness Monday topic or one of the great topics on @brittany-ninjaone ’s IT Leadership Lab livestreams. Quite literally imposter syndrome situation. I’m going to respond back to this thread a little bit later this morning because it’s probably still something I can do to get these two functions to behave better in RDS.

The Daveman: I’m not sure if it’s Win11 still trying to shed its control panel nemesis or HP making its install process super-overly-bloatware-complicated. I wonder this as well. I have Lexmark printers at work, and we’ve created an app to install the printers for us. Not that the installation program was difficult, but because we wanted to automate how the printers were installed for ad hoc situations. Start the app, select the printer to install, wait a minute or so and then we’re done. I tried helping a friend with an HP printer, and I have to say, I hate those things! They were using the subscription ink, so when I tried to factory reset the printer to start over, it did a full stop at a screen on the printer complaining about the ink being a subscription ink, but it didn’t see a subscription. I couldn’t connect it to the network since I couldn’t get past this warning. I suppose if I would have alternative ink cartridges, I would have a way to bypass that, but why is that necessary? I ended up having a near hour long phone call with HP support to resolve this, where we pulled up the hidden admin menu on the printer and triggered another factory reset. Personally, I don’t think it’s Windows 11 - I think it’s printer companies (I’m looking at you, HP,) that try to idiot proof the installers so much that they are actually having the opposite effect and are harder to install. @Greek-Greg sorry if I took one of your lollipops and jammed in into the printer…

This was how I learned scripting - each week, a past employer was printing out stock records on fanfold dotmatrix printer - 2" thick - they’d then go through manually and highlight those records that interested them based on some calculation. I ran that report to txt file, downloaded it and then pulled into excel where a macro I wrote parsed it into the correct columns, added the calculation and filtered it. It saved tons of wasted paper and hours of time. I’m currently writing another script that pulls orders from a platform and creates an order file ready for import to our ERP system - it’ll save customer services team from typing everything in manually…

Andrew_F: find out about processes in the business and see what is being done mandraulicly ^ this… once you’re done with all the documentation, DR planning etc: Actively find out what other people in the company are doing; they may not even realise that some tedious or error-prone office or business-logic tasks might be avoidable/automatable etc.
