Hi there, I’m new to the community. I am price checking for an external 3-5 TB, & I saw at least 2 really bad reviews on newegg in the last 1-3 years. The rest seem ok, but I think they were from older than 1-3 years ago. I’m really concerned, considering how expensive they are now. Anyone else having issues with an external they bought only in the last 1-3 years & if yes, what model & issue? Thanks

Sync Definition - What does sync mean?

Hi, I use the synchronization option in MyCLoud (iOS) between my iPhone-photolibrary and NAS MyCloudEx2Ultra. It works fine. I noticed that when I remove a photo on my NAS it will be reinstalled by the synchronization function soon after. However when I rename a photo on my NAS no action is taken by the sync function. Is it correct to assume that the sync function uses a synchronization algorithm based on an other attribute e.g. ‘time taken’ of the photo? Where can I find a detailed description of the synchronization logics.

If it worked before, it’s probably not that WD suddenly stopped allowing deletions. If these are Time Machine backups, macOS/Time Machine may be managing them differently, so I’d avoid deleting backup folders directly in Finder. WD now has an official guide for removing Time Machine backups on macOS Ventura through Sequoia. Steps to Remove Time Machine Backup If they’re just regular files, you should still be able to delete them normally—just make sure the previous backup is verified before removing anything.

This is often a USB or power issue rather than a data problem. Try a different USB cable/port, avoid USB hubs, and check your power settings. If it keeps happening, the drive or its enclosure could be starting to fail.

If you decide to try a replacement PCB, the ROM at U12 needs to be transferred from patient to donor. Hdd-parts.com will supply a PCB and transfer the ROM for US$50.
