My old Canon T2i has stopped remembering the date and time if the battery is removed. It Turns out there is a hidden internal backup rechargeable “button” battery, not mentioned in the manual. Luckily it is accessible, as seen here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Canon+EOS+Rebel+T2i+Clock+Battery+Replacement/139543 The battery is a Seiko MS614SE, not to be found in Canon’s support pages. After some effort I found a supplier that ships it in the USA: https://eu.mouser.com/en/ProductDetail/Seiko-Instruments-Micro-Energy/MS614SE?qs=vrQyzjTsotmt1bmGskqEPQ%3D%3D I will see if the new button battery fixes the problem. There may be more to it. There is also a similar thing going on with Fuji cameras. Starting earlier this year, my X-T3 will reset & lose my settings & the date If the camera is not turned off before removing the battery. There is a YouTube about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vOv-xjUtzw In the X-T3, I do not see an access to a button battery like there is in the Canon T2i.
Hi, I still own a dji ronin-s, but might upgrade to the dji ronin rs5 at some point. But I want to buy a monitor mount that would fit the dji ronin s as the dji ronin rs5. Does this exists? Any tips/experience? thanks! kr,
I know we’re not supposed to talk about action cams, but this action cam is not! Why is no one talking about the Mission 1 Pro ILS? This thing looks so good. Have I bought into the YouTube shill hype? I just sold another camera and a couple of lenses to get it. Is anyone else going to pull the trigger on one?
The recreation of the Digital Bolex that David Bross (of the Digilog camera app) has been working on is now functioning. He's got help from Joe Rubinstein from the original Digital Bolex company. It sounds like he'll have two of them to be used by filmmakers to test it out. https://www.cined.com/david-bross-digital-bolex-rebuild-reaches-working-prototype-kodak-ccd-raspberry-pi-5-free-loaner-units-planned/
So I rented the Pyxis 6K this week to run some tests. We're building a new studio and I wanted to see if these would work for us in our workflow. My criterion for these studio cameras is the following: - Somewhere in the $2000-3500 range - SDI output - Solid 4k image - Clean image for fast workflow (no denoising in post) - Good autofocus - Simple workflow Honestly after spending a few days with the Pyxis, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It's a really simple camera body, and everything is laid out really well. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but built from a heavy duty metal, and kind of heavy overall, which I didn't mind. The 5" monitor is amazing. It's also built out of some kind of metal, but still thin and light. It powers and does video from a single locking USB-C cable. It's touch enabled, so the menus and autofocus can be controlled from there, and the image is really bright and easy to see in the sun. It's honestly just really nice to be able to put the camera on a tripod, plug in the locking and included AC adapter, plug in the monitor, and you're good to go. No janky adapters, dummy batteries etc. The image is really really good. It's very sharp, clean, and as much dynamic range as you could want. I was able to underexpose shots by a solid two stops to hold highlights out a window and the image looked really good after recovery in post. The autofocus kind of surprised me as well. It's DPAF, added somewhat recently in a firmware update from BM, so I
Interesting update on the FP front. A user has apparently developed a way to use the FP's internal gyro data to get post-production stabilization via the cam's SD card (vs needing to attach an additional piece of external hardware). You can get more details here: https://discord.com/channels/1542149935523299378/1542153963837853807 And this is an FB group where the developer made the annoucement earlier this week, and is discussing it with other owners: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1EPzkeRZny/?mibextid=wwXIfr There is also a user (Vitaly Li) who literally just posted about a new mod they're developing that could give the FP 3000x2000 open gate: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1F1sixsTzz/?mibextid=wwXIfr Personaly I've moved on from my dreams of owning an FP, but this is seems like pretty promising news for FP users.
Good morning, everyone! A short and super-relaxed video from the final days of summer on the island of Thassos. Featuring music from a bygone era— a time many of us wish we could live in! Enjoy a video that made with a7iv + Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and GoPro12 !
More reductions and from the wording of the press release they could be permanent as they’ve found cost savings in production. £1463 for the Cinema 6K and £1830 for the PYXIS 6K are excellent prices really, particularly in light of the AF updates for both cameras. Both those prices INCLUDE VAT by the way. Hopefully they find some of these cost savings in production for the PYXIS 12K, despite it already being very decent value for money.
So by my man mathematics, DJI must have given away 10x X2Dii units for every one they have actually sold. I get the marketing strategy behind getting maybe 10 or so units out to some key Photo World 'influensters', but holy macaroni, just how many of these things have they given away? Who knew that DJI were such a philanthropic company... Jealous? Moi? Insanely, - it's a dream camera for me, but at ballpark '12k' for the body and 35-100 zoom lens, I cannot make the financials work in my favour. Even if it also did video. Which it doesn't. Not even slightly. Why is it peak camera for me? It's looks, the brand heritage, the build, the feel, the handing, the menus and of course the image quality. Except not quite the image quality. I have downloaded files from a number of sources and expected to be blown away and drink some of that readily available on-line Kool Aid, except I wasn't. Yes, they are great and super-detailed...but so are those from my whatshouldbevastlyinferior LUMIX S1Rii. I have not been able to shoot the exact same scenes side by side, or any of my own stills with the Hasselblad because I don't have access to one, so can only go on similar type shots...and as above, I'm not blown away or seeing any magic. In fact, quite a few of the shots I have downloaded with human subjects, the focus has been slightly off which suggests to me 2 things: Thing A: The focus is slightly off. Thing B: What muppet was given this camera to test and why has said muppet not pixel-peep
For anyone considering the R6V, Looks like this fairly new 'Subject Tracking IS' feature addresses the longstanding wobble issues Canon has had with its IBIS system. I think more testing needs to be done - but just caught this vid from YouTuber Q Maldonado talking about it via this Canon R6V FB group . Personally, I sold my R50V and picked an R6V up to be my new casual/travel/C-cam. If you barebones it with a wrist strap it isn't that much bigger than an R50V with a Smallrig cage. Haven't really had time to do much testing but so far the biggest issue for me has been using the LCD screen in broad daylight. My workaround will be to rebuy a Zacuto Z-Finder and slap a Z-Frame adhesive on the LCD screen. Sure it makes it impossible to put the LCD in the protective closed position but that is obvi not a new concern + if you slap on a screen protector below the adhesive you should be fine + because the Z-Frame adhesive has some thickness to it, it also acts as another layer of protection. Anyways, just an fyi!
Hi guys, So I finally quit my job and decided to start my own video agency. After 10+ years of experience in video (allthough the last 6 years or so after having children the pacing was lower then before but I’m taking the leap and going all in. There’s just one small problem: I currently have 0 clients. I’ve got the experience, the gear, a maybe dated portfolio and I know how to produce videos from start to finish. But now I need to turn that into an actual business, and preferably make it work pretty quickly. So I’m curious: What actually works in 2026 to get your first clients? Cold outreach? Networking? LinkedIn? Instagram? Agencies? Referrals? Something completely different? I’d especially love to hear from people who recently started a creative business or agency and managed to get clients without already having a massive network. Thanks a lot!
