Hi All, I am new to the group. My wife has been diagnosed with early onset ft dementia. At the moment we are managing but she is forgetting more and not much of an appetite , only interested in sweet thing, chocolate , sugar honey etc….obsessed with walking.. but I just wanted to connect as I know other people with be in similar situations. Hi, I am a full time carer for my mum who has dementia, it's not vascular, so she does remember who everyone is, though she doesn't always remember their names. I've been her full time carer for 2 years now and last year we sold our homes and bought a bungalow together as at 94 she has mobility issues. I will be moving my mum into a care home within the next few weeks. I’m worried as she won’t want to go so I will have to be deceptive which I am really worried about. A friend whose dad had dementia said she had to fib a little to get her dad into the care home. How have other people navigated this? How do you move their things in? What was the process? Hello all, My partner was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 2 months ago, and a few weeks ago, we applied for a reduction in council tax for him. To our surprise, his GP has refused to support it, even though he has both an official diagnosis, and is in receipt of the higher rate of PIP. The GP says that he does not regard his Alzheimer's as being serious enough, at present. My husband has dementia. He has been having cognitive impairment and extreme tiredness for some time However we came on a coach holiday a few days ago. He was fine enjoying the sunshine while sitting on the promenade. This morning he woke not knowing where he was with no memory of how we arrived here or our activities during the past 3 days. Other than going down for breakfast he has been asleep most of the day He is aware that he can't remember suddenly. Any explanation?

Hi, my mum has not had an official diagnosis of dementia as yet. We have seen the GP, she is having a CT scan and things are progressing slowly. My mum is understandably in denial and thinks that it is me and my sister that are the ones with the problem. We are able to see a complete change in her that currently can still be brushed away by professionals as she can still present well when needed. My sister and I have LPA for health and finance. I'm 28 and have no clue what I'm doing. My dad 69 has corticobasal degeneration (Parkinsons) . Diagnosed officially 4 months ago. I have power of attorney for both health/ welfare and finance. The mistake I have made is I have put Jointly instead of jointly/severally. My 72 year old mum is the second power of attorney. I can see from looking around the site there are many people in the same boat as me. My mum received her vascular dementia diagnosis last March. By September she was living with us permanently as it became clear to me that she couldn't cope any longer on her own. My husband is one in a trillion taking this on with me. This might come across as a minor thing to post about by some feedback/advice would be welcome. A few months back, Mum’s watch disappeared so I replaced it with a cheap one and now that’s gone walkabout. A couple of months ago we both noticed that she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring and she didn’t know where it was.
