Real Ear Measurement vs Pure-tone Audiometry

I was recently fitted with Signia MaX 5 hearing aids, and felt they were pretty well set up with the usual Pure-tone audiometry, except for needing a bit more volume. After reading about the importance of Real Ear Measurement, when I went back in for an adjustment a few days later, I insisted they perform the REM tests and adjust my HA's accordingly. Bad mistake! In the office they sounded "OK" but a bit harsh. Outside, in various settings, they were horrible! Fortunately they've saved the previous settings and will be able to go back to where they were, for starters. Is my experience out of the ordinary? Is REM not as good as it's often touted to be? I'm curious about your experiences and comments. 4 posts - 3 participants Read full topic

HomeSpot Auracast Transmitter QR Code Retrieval

Special requirements to enable the use of Auracast for select recently or soon to be introduced hearing aids through apps on Apple iPhone and iPad: It looks like several of the new and upcoming released hearing aids will, finally have Auracast activated. However, wearers using the hearing aid apps on apple iPhones and iPads will not be able to select Auracast broadcasts from a list of broadcast channels as Android users can. Apple users will have to scan the broadcast transmitter’s QR code. I’m hoping that responsible Auracast “broadcasters” will post or otherwise provide the QR codes for their customers or guests to scan. At this time, it looks like users of these hearing aids will need scan the QR codes: Phonak audeo Infinity and Infinity Ultra (including Sphere), Phonak audeo Eon and Eon sphere Bernafon Encanta Signia Pure C&G Max Widex Allure and Allure AI Many locations are using an inexpensive HomeSpot BA210 Auracast transmitter. They can use the web-based QK CastTool to retrieve the QR code for their transmitters. Here are the instructions for retrieving the QR code: 1/ Connect the BA210 to a PC/MAC with a USB data cable. 2/ Use the Chrome browser (or any Chromium-based browser, including Microsoft Edge) and launch the QK CastTool using the link: https://qkaudio.dxcloud.io/api/content/qk_casttool.html Note you must be using a Chrome or Chrome based browser - The Apple Safari and Firefox will not work. 3/ Click on the GET STARTED button. Best hearing aids high frequency loss

If you look at my audiogram you will see my high frequency loss between 4k to 8k especially right ear Im using resound nexia 9n60s with hp receiver and custom moulds but im struggling to get the gains in those frequencies iv done sound shaper but on the high frequencies it won't let me put no where near what my prescription says even tho when iv done calibration it's under the feedback guard the MPO won't let me go above 24 in the G80 sounds So are there any better hearing aids out there that will help with my high frequency loss? 3 posts - 2 participants Read full topic

MPO gains

I have the resound nexias 9 and have around 100db loss in the high frequencies 8k but when I try and raise my gains G80 it won't let me go past 24 where as on the graph it's right up there before feedback should happen all the other frequencies I can have right up but not the high frequencies like 8k 🤷‍♂️ 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic

Apple Watch Live Rewind…

Hi all, (Sorry for any errors, I don't speak English and I'm using a translator). What are your thoughts on the new Live Rewind feature on Apple Watch (transcribing the last 15 seconds of conversation on the wrist)? For those with hearing loss or wearing hearing aids: do you find a 15-second retro-transcript genuinely helpful in daily life, or is it too brief compared to continuous live captions? I’m based in Spain (EU), so I expect language or regional delays, but I’d love to hear your take on whether this is actually practical. Thanks! 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic

Costco-Easy Line Roger Mic

Was browsing Costco and it looks like they now offer a Roger Mic that looks like a Roger Select. Price isn't listed but Partner Mics are $299 so I'm guessing they're more than that. Not sure how significant this is since used Roger Mics are readily available at much better prices but found it interesting that Costco is venturing into Roger territory. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic

Phonak I 70s, a shortcoming and deficiency. Or it looks that way.

I'm new to my Phonak I 70s. Phonak I70s seem to have a deficiency, and a behavior that my 4+ year old Signia 5X dealt with perfectly. DEFICIENCY: When I pause my phone's bluetoothfrom, (NOT switching bluetooth on/off), the Phonak has a 7+ second delay until ambient sounds are no longer reduced. What the H? I see that as a risk to safety first, let alone an insult to anyone who wants to start speaking to me while I'm playing audio through my phone. No need for this deficiency in a top end product BEHAVIOR NOT BELONGING IN A MATURE PRODUCT: My prior hearing aids allowed me to lower ambient sounds on the earpiece, but raise the volume for my bluetooth streaming. This allows optimal way to have a clear stream, OR, to keep in touch with my environment. My dynamic choice The Phonak I70 only allows increase/decrease volume of signal, no ambient noise selectivity. NOTE: If there is ambient noise selectivity, that existence does not counter my statement on the lack of dynamic user selectivity of background sounds streaming volume. I understand that their technology may run differently, but as a SW developer for decades, you can always program around a problem, and as a User Experience consultant, you can add that as one more Settings option. It's not like adding one more option would be new territory for them. This is a less than ideal, or missed opportunity, coming from a top notch company. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic

Starkey inspire 2025

Looking for Starkey Inspire X Standalone Installer (Early 2025 version) Hi everyone, I need a standalone installer of the Starkey Inspire X software from early 2025 (around version 2025.0 / early 2025 release). The current 2025/2026 software updates completely destroyed my e-STAT fitting for my KINDevo 3 K30 devices (they sound extremely loud and shrill now). Back in early 2025, when I transferred the data, everything sounded absolutely perfect. Could someone please send me a safe download link for an early 2025 version via Private Message? Thank you very much! 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic
