When I walk round the little towns and villages in North Yorkshire like Staithes and Whitby nearly every other house has a keybox outside for rentals. I think some get a mixed reaction from locals who get priced out but are expected to work there in shops etc.

I could be wrong, but I think this was a Homes Under the Hammer type development with his son? Presumably there’ll be a capital gains charge on the sale? Is the plan to reinvest in another doer-upper?
One of my long range dreams / exit plans has been owning 2-4 residential units is some sleepy estuary town or village. Live in one, and manage the others as holiday lets. Just a pipe dream really & would probably hate it. People can be weird. And sleepy towns can get dull quickly.
A 6 person team against a 2 person team - although team MAD were pretty damn good…
fruit_thief: each £100K of Airbnb would have to be yielding >£5K to trump that) And a higher revenue for costs, taxes, property maintenance, interest etc.
I’d maybe compare the post-tax income from the AirBnB with the hassle factor of running it. if the hassle was low, and the % yield exceeded the safe return expected elsewhere, I’d keep it. (bearing in mind that UK government bond funds like VGOV currently have a yield to maturity of around 5%, so each £100K of Airbnb would have to be yielding >£5K to trump that) I also might keep it if I thought I’d ever want to live in it again, or had some similar use for it, because the round trip costs of acquiring and disposing of property are quite high.
Very much depends on if you need the money in the short or long term, your age, plans to retire/already retired, kids if you have them needing a house deposit, tolerance for risk, etc, etc. Markets and investments are anyone’s guess just now, could continue to climb against all logic, could crash by 75% depending on which YouTube finance ‘expert’ you listen too. Safe things would be top up Cash ISA, S&S ISA, SIPP with a money market fund. Longer term… ‘riskier’ funds, trackers, etc. in ISA/SIPP. Other stuff, take a punt on Premium Bonds. Depending on the reason for selling Airbnb, why buy another property? Most importantly, assuming this is spare cash, definitely spend some, take some nice holidays, buy that thing you’ve put off buying, go out for nice dinners, life is short.
Finished pimping the Zwift carbon bike tonight, that’s the second fully pimped and I’m halfway through level 2 on the steel frame. I’ll switch to that and hopefully be able to start on the Tron before Christmas. Also looks like they released an updated version of the Zwift bike today.
Mini triathlon for me tonight. 1.3k swim which was very average, just couldn’t get going 12k Zwift 5K dreadmill with 3*1K
