Hi, I'm looking for a Netronics R&D Electric Mouth-1 S-100 speech board or RS-232 DigiTalker. I'm interested in a **complete board, working or untested**, and would especially like one with the original **Digitalker IC(s) and VOX vocabulary ROM(s)**. A partially populated or non-working board may also be of interest. **PURCHASE OR TRADE CONSIDERED** I am a **very generous trader** and have a substantial collection of vintage Altair/S-100 hardware, boards, components, software and... A long-standing project of mine is to convert one of the Dick Smith VZ200s (and a VZ300) to NTSC so I can use it on this side of the pond, but I have now wound up with a real NTSC 4K VZ200. It works except for a bad keyboard column which I think should be fixable. I picked up one of the BennVenn SD card all-in-ones that provide memory, SD card access and joyports ( https://bennvenn.myshopify.com/products/vz300-sd-loader ). However, I need to modify the VHDL to support the 4K memory... Read more
Anyone else, get anything exciting at VCF Midwest so far? I'm only able to get small things, but I'm pretty happy. So far I found two old album-style pc games (Seven Cities of Gold and Master of the Lamps), two Apple ][ joysticks, a modern Apple ][c power supply and a VCF tshirt. I'm looking forward to seeing what I find tomorrow. I can't believe the size of this place! Does anyone else have any luck with fun finds so far?
I recently came into possession of a mostly complete TRS80 Model 1. It came with the Computer, Expansion Interface, and Monitor. They keys were falling off the unit when I got it. Upon teardown I saw the reason. Almost ALL of the key plungers had cracked in one or more corners. I could find no easy way to remove the frame holding the plungers down. I came across this site https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20317&start= which provided a great idea for repair, however I... Read more
So I may have accidentally bent my floppy disk a tiny bit, and for some reason it's not working anymore! Is there any chance I could recover my data from it? Spoiler: Pictures
About a year ago I started experimenting with how to make NetDrive faster. I have the next revision of that experiment available for testing, and I am excited by the results. The new code was 1.4 to 2.7x faster when talking to a server on the same network, and 12x to 21x faster when talking to a remote machine across the internet. I'd like to get some help testing it though. It is rock solid, and I'm not concerned about data corruption. I'd just like to hear what kind of improvements other... Read more
Hello! I've been reading through the forum posts for a while now but I thought it's about time that I got involved. By way of introduction, I'm David, an Australian living in Los Angeles, CA. I've been involved in retrocomputing since the late 90s. What specifically got me started was the 21st anniversary of the Atari 2600 and the programming competition that grew-up from that. Learning 2600 programming was transformative: I'd never sweated so many hours over so few bytes, but it was... Read more
I have some vintage Data General equipment that I might be interested in selling. It was all working the last time I used it, but it has probably been 20 years since I brought the system up. It has been in my server room for the last 35 years. Used to convert my client base from DG hardware to Strobe Data processors
Southeast Michigan. One of the 3 terminals powers up properly. Another powers up but shows nothing, and the third does not power up. Includes 3 matching keyboards; 1-3 keys on each keyboard do not work; all keycaps present and I just removed a few to photograph the underneath. Includes matching printer which seems to work but has no ribbon. Includes 2 original boxes for keyboards, 1 original box for one of the terminals, and a bit of paperwork found in the terminal box. No telephone... Read more
Good morning! Apparently I got really unlucky and missed out on one of these on eBay. I am looking for the Spring 1984 COMDEX Exhibits guide booklet. I have attached a photo of what one looks like. I am not too worried about condition, as I am trying to find information about a specific brand/product lineup featured in every COMDEX from 1982-1985 but specifically their Atlanta booth. Thank you in advance!
