Chimney identification

Hello, I'm in the middle of a remodel and need to extend my wood burning fireplace chimney. I am having a hard time figuring out what brand it is and if there is anything I can buy locally that is compatible. The inner pipe is 8" diameter, outer is 12" diameter. Fireplace was installed new in this house in 1990. See picture below. Any help identifying the brand and websites that might carry compatible chimney would be greatly appreciated!

Enameled 6" diameter stove pipe for Vermont Castings

I acquired this seldom used Vermont Castings Resolute Acclaim 0041 and ideally to complete my installation I am seeking an additional 4 foot of 6 inch diameter biscuit (or is it called sand?) colored stove pipe to reach the chimney stack above ceiling. Not sure the model year (but I see serial number WH 006999 on the model plate). thanks in advance for any leads, Ken

Yukon Big Jack Install

Hello, I'm new to the forum and looking for help on installing a lightly used Yukon Big Jack BJ90 which is new to me. I currently have an oil burner forced hot air system installed in my house with central air (coil inside supply plenum). I'd like to offset the cost of oil this winter winter with burning wood. Looking for some guidance on how to properly tie in the system using a secondary blower (installed on the side of the Big Jack) to my existing oil furnace system. My hope it to... Read more

What size throw bag do you recommend?

I'm using a 16 oz. bag launched with a Big Shot (slingshot-on-a-pole device). A bag that heavy feels a bit awkward to me, I'm thinking a little lighter may work better. I'm looking to throw a rope as high as 50 feet. What is a good compromise?

Chimney Top Plates

I did a quick search of the forum and couldn’t find much guidance on top plates. Most of the kits I see available for flex liners include a flat plate, although terra cotta plates are available separately that attach with screws instead of (or maybe in addition to) sealant. Some even have built in rain caps. If I have 6” of exposed terra cotta above my chimney crown is it worth buying a specialized terra cotta plate like the ones below?

Help with wood storage under deck. Thoughts?

Hey all, I’ve been burning wood my whole life(my parents had a stove and when I built my home I put one in as well). We used to keep our wood against an out building but it’s since been torn down to make room for our attached garage. I built a deck off the end of it with intention of putting metal roofing under it to make a dry area to store wood. I’d have quick access to it from my garage door for bad weather, and it would hold a significant amount of wood. Plan was to build a frame to... Read more

Recomendations on Wood Stove Insert

Does anyone have any recommendations for an economical way to put an astetically pleaseing wood burning insert or fireplace like a heatilator into this fireplace. House is 1900 square feet and this would be a backup source of heat to lite at low temps. The chimney is clay lined and the fireplace as far as i can tell has never had a fire in it. Damper is still in place. For now I may use the fireplace until I can get an insert if I can repair the damper. The flue is fairly large likely 8x8... Read more
