Hello. We are a chocolate manufacturing company and have a compressed air line system to operate most of our equipment. I recently found out that my staff sometimes uses the air to dry off direct food contact equipment like our molds. Rather than add filters to every point of use hose we are thinking of getting a food safe portable air compressors, or add on a filter to the portable unit and make that exclusively for drying molds when needed (they usually air dry). Problem is I cannot find anything commercially available. Does anyone out there know of a commercially available portable unit safe for food? Thank you!
Hi Everyone! We are in the dehydrated onion business. After dehydration, flakes are ground into powder. Powder received from storage or from an online line follows this flow: Magnet (PRP)→ Metal detection (OPRP) → Grinding → Blending → Sieving (CCP) → Weighing → Packing → Store → Dispatch (no line magnet at dispatch). Until now we have classified sieve integrity as a CCP, checked every two hours. However, during a recent discussion, an auditor raised the point that a CCP's action criteria must be measurable, not merely observable—if it is only observable, it cannot be defined as a CCP.
Greetings! I’ve been working in chocolate manufacturing for about two years. Coming from the meat industry, it has definitely been a learning curve. I am currently beefing up my environmental risk assessment to comply with SQF Edition 10. We currently perform environmental pathogen swabbing in Zones 3 and 4. As I update this risk assessment, I started looking at one piece of equipment differently: the mold washer. Since it is located in a separate washing room, where we clean disassembled equipment parts and utensils, I am inclined to include the molds in our EMP program AFTER the cleaning and sanitation cycle, despite the fact that they are food-contact surfaces (Zone1). I was wondering if any of my fellow QA professionals in the chocolate industry have done this before or considered a similar approach? Thank you!
We are a dietary supplement contract manufacturer, and our facility is NSF certified so we can manufacture both NSF and NSF Certified for Sports products. But some customers have come out of the woodworks lately wanting us to add the 306 scope to our certification. Does anyone have any experience with this scope specifically? We manufacture with several ingredients that they deem "prohibited" but I'm wondering if there is any workaround. I am waiting to hear back from our NSF rep but seeking real work experience if anyone has it
