Thanks for that Guy. I didn't know you were going to feature this so i'd better add a couple of pics and more info to show the recent updates since the main makeover i did earlier this year. The Devil silencer and Suzuki GSX1400 rear shocks have just been replaced at the weekend with some proper Ohlins and a more suitable Yoshi can alongside a revised hanger to complete the look. I'm constantly fine tuning the carburation when the weather allows so have now i've fitted a Powerjet to the dreadful S&S carb which has made a massive improvement to the fueling and rideability alongside a heavier Z1000 crank who's inertia balances out the low rpm drag from the blower and now allows a smooth idle speed. The J head has been replaced with an earlier 1000 head and the blower pullies swapped to increase the blower speed so i now get instant boost when the throttle is opened and there is also a home brewed inverted lock up clutch i cobbled together hiding inside the clutch hub. Once the good weather passes i've also got a nice set of GPZ1000A Unitrack cams waiting ready to drop in over winter which should perk it up a little more next year.

I know I am late this month but been real busy and I had to do some digging to get the lowdown on this absolutely stunning monster from zed1015, this is one of my all time favourite bikes ever.Quick spec of motor - Dry blocked 1000A cases + gearbox. welded Z900 crank. 8-1 comp 1075 wiseco's. 1000 J head ,eight plugged/gasflowed/skimmed 1.3mm. std cams dialled in at 110 deg. blower geared for 8 to 10 psi boost for running in. plus all the usual APE/Liska/Falicon/Orient express/Camellia/PMC/Dyna and my own bits'n'bobs here and there.This show's bracing around swingarm pivot area and also rubber mounted catch tank i've just done. Also the new swing arm spindle is of a larger dia than original so i rigged up a special cutter (that used the pivot as a guide) to machine out the frame pivot inserts, I then turned up some larger dia replacements and welded them in.

Define "uncommon". Or more so, define the tasks You're looking forward to completing? I'm with Wookie on this, don't just willy-nilly empty your wallet. Which category or system of machine needs attention? Some things are better left to professionals, like a valve job. Why would you spend 4-700USD on seat cutters when you can have the whole job done for maybe 250USD.

Here's a basic list with a few bigger tools that really make life easier. Two good sets of metric combination wrenches 1/4 "- 3/8"- 1/2" sockets in 6 and 12 point, standard and deep with plenty of various extensions inch pounds torque wrench a selection of hammers including deadblow and soft a selection of pliers and vise grips steel punch set brass punch set multi meter electrical connectors/soldering gun with electronic solder and heat shrink cordless impact gun with a selection of bits and drivers compressor and air tools motorcycle lift table solvent wash tank, preferably petroleum base solvent a couple of scissors jacks

I put a set of these on the wife's gpz 1983 550 a few years back. they weren't cheap but seem nice. Michelin Road Classic Tires - RevZilla

i'm finally in a place where i can start grabbing tools that i will need to repair my 1982 kz 750 ltd. i've seen videos about the motorcycle mechanics tool box so i have a decent idea of most tools i will need but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for more unique tools or maybe costly but worth it tools that have helped them with working on older bikes? really any advice is useful advice here. thanks
