Hi all! As it has been 2 years since I brought my mx5 and I have lost many, many days of my life to reading other people's thread I thought I'd start my own. This is mainly going to be a dumping ground for service history and the progress of the car. Now about that last bit... as I've said I have had the car 2 years now so I have pretty much got it to where I want it to be cosmetically with not much else left to do. Hi Folks, expert help needed. I've been building a Tipo184 which relys on an existing NB wiring loom and it's killing me. I've wired every flipping plug to the new build and have a mile of excess cables that need to be thinned out but unfortunately the whole car is dead as dodo and won't turn over at all yet alone start. (the battery is charged 😉) I'm beaten and wondered if anyone might know of someone who is expert with the NB and might in the midlands. Can deliver !

I recently reviewed the history on my Mazda and noticed the maintenance records came from a mix of dealership visits and local independent repair shops. The service timeline looks consistent, the mileage increases normally, and I couldn't find any accident or title concerns. The car has been extremely reliable so far, so I don't have any complaints. It just made me wonder whether buyers place more value on a vehicle that's been serviced exclusively at the dealership, or if a well-documented... My Mazda Was Serviced at Both the Dealer and Independent Shops. Does That Matter?

Hello, as the heading describes I am having issues with my parking lock mechanism. I have read around that the horn/brake fuse could be one of the cause but my brake lights work. The shift lock actuator sometimes pushes the white piston and sometimes it does not, it is quite inconsistent and if I wiggle the shifter and find the right spots I can take shifter out of the lock. I found a vehicle that has an unusual mix of colors and options. It isn't a special edition as far as I know, but I haven't been able to find another one configured the same way. Would the original factory sticker verify exactly how it was ordered? Can it confirm the exterior paint, interior trim, optional wheels, appearance package, technology package, towing package, premium equipment, and original MSRP? I'm wondering if this was simply a custom order or if it's actually a less common... Can the original sticker help identify a rare ordering combination?

I'm not sure there'll be anyone left to discuss this with, but on the offchance, my MX5 has developed an odd loss of power. If I stop kidding myself, it's done it since I got the car in 2022 but it's becoming more frequent and more persistent. When the fault occurs, it feels like a loss of fuel. The engine will still rev under no load but in gear, it won't pull past about 2500rpm. It will do this for maybe a minute or two, after which the fault clears and it will pull cleanly to the redline... Mk1 1.8 intermittent power loss (UK '97 with EGR)

I have a 98 Mk2 which has recently decided to flash its airbag light at me 7 times, then pause, then repeat. I've found this "explanation" '95 - '97 remains on - bad computer 3 - bad power 6 - driver side airbag 7 - passenger side airbag 1999-2002 1 - computer connector 2 - bad computer 3 - bad power 6 - driver side airbag 7 - passenger side airbag 49 (4 long pulse then 9 quick pulse) - passenger deactivation switch What is the implication of "PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG" ??? So, after 36 years my front wing has rotted away at the bottom and I guess it's time to replace it. Having a hard time finding a genuine Mazda one, but I see there's lots of pattern parts out there. Has anyone got experience with any particular brand or supplier that they found to be a good fitting part without too much fettling? I'm in Northern Ireland, so postage can also be an issue with some suppliers. I've also discovered MX5 parts NI who do a replacement wing, but they don't mention... Front wing replacements.

Recent pick up off 2 brill guys. Mk1 black eunos s special 1.8. Got it home. Washed and corner quick polish. Lashing of pentrating spray and spray grease on moving parts. Battery off. Sparks out and oil in bores. It hasnt ran for 10 years so following a strict procedure before first fire. Gotta get fuel pump assembly out for look in tank. New to buy some service parts. Sills good.

A couple of years ago a guy with a black mk1 1600 mx5 came to us. He had a TD05 fitted and we swapped it out for one of our manifolds with a TD04. The TD05 wasnt coming on boost till 4500 rpm and he was really pleased with the TD04 that now started pulling hard at 2700 rpm. He said it made the car much more fun to drive. He was a nice guy and we kept in touch via messages on here (they seem to have been deleted when i searched) At one point he popped back up to have something adjusted... Hi, Has anyone got information on a '94 NA 1.6 90hp -> '99-00 NB1 1.8 140hp swap? Will stock 90hp ECU work with this swap (as the Flying Miata manual says, but I suspect they are referring to 115hp version)? Or, can/should a pre-facelift 1.6 115hp ECU be put into a facelift 90hp car? Alternatively, which standalone option (budget friendly) could work here?
