Sold my Gibson Les Paul Special and just ordered up a used Mexi Nashville Tele that looked interesting. Someone had done a new pick guard returning it to being a 2 pickup guitar (my preference) and it has a slightly recessed heel. Also decided to try a used Epi IBGC LP Special Double Cut. Both tubes are absolutely great. Can’t say one is better than the other, personally. 77’s have unparalleled mid punch and extended highs. 6CA7’s are scooped and have smooth highs. Nothing bad about either one… Using my beater LTD EC1000t with a Sunset Strip bridge straight into the amps. Switched with a Mesa Head Track. SM57 on an Eminence Karnivore, into an iRig then into my iPhone.

I have been helping care for an older friend of mine who hasnt been doing too well of late. They asked me to 'borrow'/take this one home indefinitely. I am honored. I was thinking about trying it and when I searched Synergy on the forum, the entire first page was classified posts off people selling their synergy stuff. Mainly interested in high gain stuff like the SLO II, IIC, KK, Uber etc as I have Marshall, Vox and recto covered with amps. It certainly has its appeal not having to spend a coupe of thousand on each of those heads to try them if the modules get it done. But is it much ado about nothing compared to the real deals?

He wanted me to crank the treble pot on my Marshall, but didn't say where he wanted the other pots to be, so i cranked bass and mids too and left the presence pot on 5. Any complaints? @Techdeth

New Tone3000 plugin is great, this was a ready made Dumble setup that had that ZZ Top grind to it.

I've been revisiting my Boss SY-1000, which has some of the GT-1000 AIRD amp and cab models which are on par with other high-end modelers IMO. Like all modelers I've used, there's a missing "dimensionality" that I hear with a tube amp in the room. Adding tube effects into the modeler's signal chain won't help because it will undergo AD/DA conversion by the time the audio signal leaves the digital modeler. This is the first episode in a short series that pairs guitar preamps with power amps that they were not designed for. In this episode, I hooked up a Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording to an Engl E840 power amp. These were paired with an Orange 2x12 and a Mesa 2x12, which both had Vintage 30 speakers.
