The obvious starting point here is that Vilas won 2 Majors on clay (1977 French Open and 1977 U.S. Open) while Orantes only won one. Breaking that down further, I think we'd all agree that Orantes's U.S. Open title was against tougher competition, with Orantes taking down Năstase, Vilas himself, and then Connors in the final. Meanwhile Vilas beat Raymond Moore, Solomon and Connors to take his title. Turning to Vilas's French title, Vilas took down Fibak, Ramírez, and Gottfried, with many... Read more

To quote @DSH What does that tell us?
only include players who peaked in 1990 or post 1990 until present day. who is the best server under 6 feet tall?
sorrry Andre, 'Agassi' long long article on Andre by the New York Times...his life as a pickleball player but as well a mini-biography of his life now...there's a documentary coming too weird link I know but found it to get articles behind paywalls...should be fine, I use it all the time Andre Agassi Hated Tennis. Can He Have More Fun Playing Pickleball? After years of relative quiet, the public is meeting “Andre 2.0” — a pickleball booster, an open book and a guy eager to build a... Read more
I have a 10 year old son who plays tennis seriously and it's a question I've been thinking about over the last year. I'm guessing the answer is obvious to many of you, so apologies in advance if this is naive. If hypothetically, his/our goal is for him to get into the best academic college possible (and assuming he quite gifted academically), is pursuing tennis with the goal of getting recruited or securing a walk-on spot a good way of achieving this goal? Looking at some of the high level... Read more
Congratulations, Sascha!
I really like the look of the couple of Yonex frames I own but hate the way they play…they have some of the coolest paint jobs (not the current releases). So should get rid of them all? I’m pretty conflicted lol. I feel that Yonex is at its peak hype in the west right now and probs should (Rabakina just hit W.no 1 too) What would you do?
The more interesting semifinal. The big boys. The old boys. Now men. The resurgence of the 90s kids are here. Khach has come to save tennis for some. The next Murray of his generation. Zverev is here to make you upset, but his chainz will hang low. One of them will play the american BUCKAROO
How do people feel about this string or any alternatives that are better in anyway? I've been using this in my PA98 2026 at 52lbs and love it so far. I went from o toro spin at 56lbs in my PA98 2023 to the 26 with vamos and it feels like a all around upgrade for me. The only other strings I've super liked in the PA98 2026 is tour bite 18g at 54lbs. Ultra cable was awesome as well for about an hour then it feels bad to me after. I'm trying to see what else people have found out there for... Read more
3 of the 4 US Open semifinalists are born in 1996-98. The 1996-98 gen is one of the deepest of all times, it has a ton of good players. in 3 years from 11 february 1996 to 17 february 1999 were born 10 players with a prize money of over 20 millions, and by the end of UO at least one between Zverev, Khahcanov and Tiafoe will certainly add at least 1,350,000$: Zverev $70,007,475 Medvedev $52,798,447 Tsitsipas $38,714,589 Rublev $34,046,561 Fritz $32,238,408 Ruud $29,621,625 De Minaur... Over the past ten years there have been top ten players like Bublik, Shapovalov and Sock who possess solid top 15 level skill ( especially Shapovalov and Bublik) but do not have quite the skill level to be top ten in a more competitive era or under normal circumstances. These are the most obvious cases though there are other players who have been maligned as weak top ten players. How much merit do they have in cracking the top ten? I suppose there is some merit as many solid top 15 players... Read more
