it was beyond time for the initial valve check on my 2015 KLR daily rider - 25,000 kms. I found both exhaust valves tight. Unfortunately camshaft removal is part of the process to change shims. Fortunately the shims are the same as our XJ's. Unfortunately my salvaged XJ shim collection starts at 265. I need 2 x 255's. View attachment 41429 View attachment 41430

Hello everyone, I just purchased a non-running XJ550j. The seller assured me that all it needed was a battery, but what can you do. I can somewhat get it to start but soon after it'll die if I don't give it continuous throttle. Another issue it’s having is if I have the choak on it’ll rev up to around 6000 RPMs. So far, I’ve checked all the spark plugs and they are all getting spark and aren’t fouled. Thinkin bout gettig this 82 650 with 10777 miles 1200.00. The owner is 79 and gas had it since 1990. He has been putting Castrol GTX oil in it which is not JASO rated....should I be worried bout that

Finished stripping the frame down today, found a hole and a split in the left lower frame rail. I took a hammer and punch and beat around the rest of the lower tubes and didn't find anything else. Should I scrap it and get another frame or weld and go? Hole: Split:... Frame Rust/Split. Weld or Replace?

Hello all, I am new here and hoping somebody can help me out. I'm a new motorcycle owner and rider and bought an '85 xj700 maxim a few months ago. I've been having problems with the starter/electrical systems from the beginning, replaced the battery and voltage regulator so far but an issue still remains where I can turn the bike on and lights will come on, but when I go to press the starter all I hear is a 'click' coming from the general area of the battery as well as the oil light coming... 85 XJ700 Mystery Starter Issues

Hello all, New XJ owner here. I hail from a quaint little town in BFE Tennessee that tests missiles. So where to begin, I bought this bike from a pawn shops back corner for more than i should have, View attachment 22790 and continue the trend by putting even more money into it, it took me a year to pay for it because I am not a rich man and the pawn shop owner is pretty lenient with me in regards to payments. So the day i paid it off i brought the thing home. View attachment 22791 ... And then things got worse...

I have a 1981 XJ 750 bobber stripped. Looking to sell most parts including rear wheel, engine, starter etc and bobber frame. Also have carbs. Carbs and engine in VGC. Frame is bobber adapted. Engine was running fine and carbs have been cleaned. Would prefer selling in one lot if poss. Offers please
