A little project of mine — SROVA

Hi all, While surfing the net looking for audio-related forums, I stumbled upon AudioShark and could hardly believe it — an actual friendly place for audio people to hang out. Well done! A little about me. My background is in TV broadcasting, production and voice-overs. These days I spend most of my time developing software, and I am fortunate enough not to need to work for money anymore. That led me to start what I call a B-ME project — a Beyond Money Endeavour. That... Read more

end game audio system -- how do you know you are there?

having spent the past 2+ years slowly and methodically building / upgrading my system, i must say that at this point i am really, really enjoying it. when listening critically, i no longer find myself thinking that i need to upgrade this component or that cable, etc. instead, i find myself thinking about things like the quality of the recording. honestly, i do not think embarking on another upgrade cycle would increase my listening enjoyment one iota. so, i may have reached my version of... New Vintage Audio Restoration HQ

I didn't realize it at the time - but the series of videos I produced on experimenting with digital audio & tweaks when my channel was just starting helped launch it. The premise was simple: rather than deal with the forum nitwits arguing endlessly on topics they'd never actually tried themselves (in this case digital audio), I bought 16 network switches with my own money off Amazon and spent 60+ hours experimenting and reporting on my findings. Yes - I decided to actually TRY vs. simply... Read more

I found this today while I was searching for info

Harry Pearson, HP And The High-End As We Know It I became aware of Harry Pearson, without exactly realizing it, in the spring of 1973. I was in my first year at university in the U.S., and I happened www.theabsolutesound.com I was a disciple He was a mentor He wa friend I think reading this should be interesting especiall y for many younger people who came after the 80's. Tom Martin describes what so many did when discovering HP and High Performance Audio and how to learn If you read this carefully you might see how the entire focus of the Industry has shifted for many and IMO not for the better but to make more... My next preamp: Cary SPL-90 CLONE

With apology to Chinese and/or clone haters (and/or Canadian haters) ... Sorry about that: suck it up or quit reading now . I have ordered from AliExpress this Cary SPL-90 clone . I ordered mine with the PSVANE 'ART' 12AU7-5 tubes, (can be ordered without tubes) Of significance, note that the PCB maker is 'Zero Zone' and the part is PRT12A-SPL90 U1. The preamp comes with remote control input selection and resistor ladder volume control... Read more

What system is in your ride?

I recently bought a Toyota Crown Limited which has a JBL system. I'm impressed for a factory higher level system. It has 11 speakers, tweeters in front pillars and some speakers in the dash area some place, door panels and rear deck. The drivers are good quality and I suspect DSP is used as I have a front sound stage with nothing I can detect from the rear although speakers are supposed to be back there, this is with fade in the center. I need to sit in the back to see what it sounds... Read more
