Honda CB1100 Forum

I started this process in the winter of ‘24-‘25. I had learned that there was an RS model and now I wanted 17” wheels. I had acquired a used cb1100 RS aluminum swingarm off of eBay for more than I wanted to pay and began the process. I wanted a 5.5” wide rear wheel that would be easy to source. Since I already had an MT07 in my garage I figured why not use that for a mock up. The RS swingarm bolts directly into the frame. The problems started coming when I noticed it used a different style of brake mounting tab for the rear. I had just purchased a 3d printer and was printed prototype parts and custom wheel spacers to get the spacing right. Thankfully cuz the MT07 is a popular platform, I was able to buy a 530 sprocket for it. I had designed and eventually sent out for a CNCed aluminum sprocket spacer to get the chain aligned and was able to finally adapt the stock MT07 rear brake caliper/hanger having to weld a custom bracket to it. I had also done the math, deisnged, printed then had SendCutSend make me a custom speed sensor ring for the back wheel. Using the stock MT07 ABS sensor rewired to my speed sensor, my speedometer is now accurate +-1/2mph at 60mph.(the Stock wheel is taller, so moving to a shorter wheel would have thrown off the speedo plus I needed a way to make the speedo work again) For most of you guys this info isn’t much good cuz you’d be swapping into the stock swingarm. Good day! I’ve been interested in picking up one of the newer CB1100 models ever since they were first released, but other priorities kept getting in the way. Now that they’re showing up on the used market—with prices ranging from reasonable to pretty high—I’m seriously considering it. The CB1100EX really catches my eye, especially with those spoked wheels. Aside from that (and possibly ABS), what are the main differences compared to the standard CB1100? I’ve also noticed the EX versions tend to be priced quite a bit higher—do you think it’s actually worth the extra cost? For those who own either version, how has your experience been? Are you happy with your bike? As for my background, I’ve ridden a mix of bikes over the years: dirt bikes, a few Yamaha cruisers, a couple of big Harley baggers, and some Yamaha FZ-09s (probably the most fun I’ve had riding). Right now, I’ve got my uncle’s Harley Sportster 1200 in the garage while he’s dealing with health issues—it’s been a great ride too.

hello ,my 2014 cb ll00 oil light not working. installed small light beside cluster and it works so wireing and switch works . so everything up to guage is working .any ideas?if how do i remove tach needle without breaking it? ($900.00) to check wireing to the led, thank you for any advice. best wishes George
