LG smart TVs caught logging audio with screen off and snooping on local devices

This is why I configured my router to block my "smart" TVs from accessing the Internet (especially the one used as a computer monitor). LG smart TVs caught logging audio with screen off and snooping on local devices An investigation by Gamers Nexus found LG smart TVs sweep local networks to map phones and nearby devices. Tests also showed the sets can capture microphone audio with the screen off — they then upload data once reconnected to the internet. www.notebookcheck.net

Many people mistake overfitting for backtesting, while most people make the opposite mistake.

Hi everyone, I keep seeing people presenting one single long backtest as proof that their strategy works. That is basically not a test at all, because you use one period to develop a strategy and then expect it to work on another period. That's called a curve-fit. Curve-fits don't work on another curve. To evaluate whether a strategy actually has an edge, you should perform a rolling walk-forward analysis (WFA). The idea is that a strategy needs to demonstrate statistically meaningful... Read more

When the market ignores the data

One of the more useful signals during a data-heavy week is sometimes not the number itself, but the market's reaction to it. A stronger-than-expected economic release is usually interpreted as positive when it supports earnings expectations. The same release can become negative when it materially changes the expected path of monetary policy. That makes the reaction function more interesting than the headline. For the current market, three outcomes seem particularly informative: Strong... Read more

My Backtest is more important than Live. How can i convince allocators?

I have developed an MT5 FX EA , trading all MAJOR and MINOR pairs. It is supported by the entire available historical data (18 years) with over 10,000 trades, and over 2 years of Live trading with 300 trades. The 300 Live trades matches the Backtest of the same date. As on live there are only 300 trades, and on backtest there are 10,000, how can i convince that backtest matters more than live? My system is primarily designed to trade around major economic events that create significant... Read more

How to make it in trading: main mistake of most beginners.

Trading is different from almost every other occupation for one reason: A truly profitable trader has no incentive to reveal their secrets to you. Even if you paid them $10k/hour, it would still not be worth it for them. Because once you know their secrets, you can use them yourself and become their competitor in their most profitable business: managing other people’s capital. Now imagine that someone reveals those secrets to hundreds of students, as many "mentors" do. You got it... Read more

User defind spreads

Anyone look into nitro spreads on OKX or custom spreads on Deribit? They're similar to what CME, ICE, and Eurex offer. Might have opportunity.

Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (DJT)

I've been waiting a long time for this. I refused to partake in the IPO, because I know clear well IPOs are highly biased to be greatly down within 6-months. Now with the bad earnings report behind us, I feel it's a good time to pull the trigger. Premiums on options are ballistic, which has me tempted to scale in here by shorting PUTs. The risks are there, Trump dies and the stock goes woke-broke. On the other hand, there are some moats. With only two companies left out there in the... Read more
