Squishy hydraulics over time, both brakes and clutch.

So I can make my both brake levers and hydraulic clutch very solid by tying them back with a rag and letting them sit overnight, but with use they all end up getting softer and spongier, so tying them back is something I regularly do. All of them are recently flushed with clean fluid and normal mainteance. I have heard some people say that mastercylinder seals can degrade over time in such a way that they don't leak fluid, but will let in air, although I do have a bit of trouble believing... Read more

Gen 1 Ivan's Tune Results and Questions

I'll pre-frame this by mentioning I have used Ivan's tunes on a couple previous bikes (2014 FZ1, 2011 Stryker) and have local friends I recommended (2008 and 2016 FJR's), all with phenomenal results. Also an Ivan's carbureted upgrade to a 2004 FZ1. Again, awesome! When I first bought this 2005 FJR earlier this year it ran well but soon after started making that intermittent mechanical chunk during cold starts. The bike has 39K miles so I performed various maintenance not knowing what's been... Read more

Tech Day XXXI - September 4 - 6, 2026, Marysville, Ohio

It's time once again for the best-damned midwest FJR Tech Day EVER! Edition #31 (holy sh!t - we're up to 31 of these already??) will be in sunny, beautiful, Marysville, Ohio, and will be hosted by me and Sooze, which means that I'll open the garage doors and Sooze will make sure everyone is well fed. Plan on Saturday, September 5, 2026, for this edition. Yes - we know this is Labor Day weekend. It's either now or the end of October. For folks who cannot make this a day ride, or have... Read more

I thought I had done this; apparently not!

Hello from south Florida! Scott here. I bought a 2005 FJR earlier this year and just happy to be here. Not new to bikes at all; been riding for 45+ years and have had more bikes (between riders, projects and flips) than I can count on fingers and toes. So hello, hello!
