Osprey_Applications: it doesn’t teach GMDSS and it’s no substitute for the course. It’s a ride-along drill aid I wouldn’t see much interest in this. If I was paying a couple grand for a two week course, i wouldn’t consider spending even another 10 bucks on an auxiliary aid for studying. I’d just be focused on what the school’s course has. I’d think most would see it like that, but maybe I’m wrong. Now maybe approaching schools with gmdss courses and selling your product to them to use, that may be a good idea?

Anybody remembers Sea Launch.
Not AMO but the USNS Guadalupe food is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Issuing MRE’s would be a 200% improvement lol. 1/2 my diet is greek yogurt, chia seeds and protein powder from the commissary on NASNI.
Jughead: Looks like the same ratbag side that was charging tolls in the first place. Not the “ratbag side” that proposed to do so, but backed off? Maybe they realized that they didn’t have any territorial right, or the means, to do so? (aka TACO) Meanwhile the “tit-for-tat” came is resuming: Splash247 – 1 Sep 26 Tanker hit by three projectiles in Hormuz - Splash247 A tanker has been struck by three unknown projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani side of the waterway, the latest attack on commercial shipping amid renewed US-Iran hostilities. UK Maritime Trade Operations said the... Estimated reading time: 2 minutes The Liberia-flagged Senegal Prosperity was completing an outbound transit when it was hit. No casualties or pollution have been reported and the tanker has not been identified . The attack follows another tanker strike near Khasab on August 29, when an inbound vessel was hit by an unknown projectile around 12 nautical miles north of the Omani port. Washington has meanwhile claimed its forces have cleared internationally recognised shipping lanes through Hormuz of mines, although maritime security officials continue to warn of drifting and uncharted devices. Who to belive, the known liars in Washington, or the maritime security officials? PS: The named tanker is “unknown”, while “another tanker” is not named?
I’ll disagree, I’m in a current new build SRIV and has an analog clock integrated to the ship system. Don’t see analog clock going anywhere. My current observations in my generation they are moving back to analog clocks as they don’t want to be tracked with smartwatches or anything digital that requires a battery. For me the way to go is watch system using points shall be for targets.
My guess is still zero climate benefit from all this extra expense. I note you evaded my actual question as does every global warming zealot.
Splash247 – 1 Sep 26 ABS warns shipping’s decarbonisation battle is shifting from prediction to... Shipping’s decarbonisation debate is moving beyond the search for a winning fuel, with owners now facing a much harder challenge around execution, capital allocation and preserving asset value as carbon costs rise and regulation fragments. That is... Estimated reading time: 3 minutes The regulatory picture is also becoming considerably messier. Rather than converging around a single global framework, ABS expects shipowners to operate under five to seven overlapping regimes covering the IMO, EU, UK, China, individual US states and emerging bilateral green corridors. Yet ABS’s interviews with owners and operators reveal there is still virtually no genuine “green premium”. Not one respondent identified customers willing to pay more than the direct savings generated through EU ETS or FuelEU Maritime compliance. Wind propulsion, air lubrication, waste heat recovery, advanced weather routing, predictive maintenance and digital performance monitoring all feature prominently as measures capable of delivering returns without requiring owners to commit to a particular future fuel.
Splash247 – 1 Sep 26 Maersk tipped to slide off liner podium - Splash247 Maersk could slip from first to fourth in the global liner rankings within the space of just six years as CMA CGM and COSCO continue to expand at a pace the Danish carrier has so far been unwilling to match. Having surrendered the liner crown to... Estimated reading time: 3 minutes Drewry managing director Philip Damas argued Maersk’s previous restraint leaves it less exposed to the overcapacity expected from late 2027 onwards and suggested the carrier could instead buy vessels cheaply during the next downturn.
And how to describe circular motion if not “clockwise” and “counter-clockwise?” “Righty-tighty, lefty loosey” doesn’t worjk in all situatioons.
224 years, but who’s counting?
tengineer1: still no investments announced for that. Here is one investor: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/31/us/politics/pentagon-venezuela-oil.html How the Pentagon Is Getting Into the Venezuelan Oil Business Under Trump The Defense Department’s Office of Strategic Capital, founded by the Biden administration to give loans to bolster the U.S. defense industry, is helping lead President Trump’s oil deal.
Thanks for the honest answers — this is exactly what I was hoping to learn. Tugslasthitch — you’re right, and I looked it up to be sure: 47 CFR 13.201(b)(4) lets an applicant submit the certificate from a Coast Guard-approved GMDSS course in lieu of sitting Element 7 with a COLEM. Some schools also run the FCC elements onsite, which is the version I’d seen — but the cert path is exactly as you said. Ctony — fair point, and to be clear about what the app is: it doesn’t teach GMDSS and it’s no substitute for the course. It’s a ride-along drill aid — official FCC pool questions you can hammer in exam-sim fashion before and alongside class, the way the Coast Guard exam apps have worked for years, so the material lands on familiar ground instead of cold. Appreciate you both taking the time.
