I live in CA and just took a trip to many different countries. I was most certainly i3 hunting wherever i went. There seem to be many more i3s overseas than in CA. I saw i3s in: France Belgium Netherlands Shetland Islands Norway If you saw some "touristy looking" guy with a backpack and white Gilligan looking hat giving you a thumbs up, that was me! I was a bit surprised to see in my small sample size, more than 50% female drivers.

Hi all, I've brought a pre-owned i3 94A BEV recently and wonder if coolant (Electric NOT HVAC) needs renewal like ICE vehicle. It's my first BEV so far and I am assuming even the coolant is not under high pressure system like an ICE does but the coolant itself does have a finite life span given it is a 9 year old vehicle already. Does anyone replaced that before and know where is the drain port (i.e. bottom of the radiator or directly suck from the small reservior under the hood?) Any... Read more

After reviewing many different ideas on how to change the Gear oil on my 2015 i3 REX, I finally completed the project this weekend. My i3 does not have a fill plug so I had to fill it through the drain plug. I recorded it, so those interested in changing their fluid can see how it's done. You will see that the fluid definitely needed changing. I have 75,000 miles on my i3. My next project will be changing the spark plugs.

Droid are a business in Birmingham providing electronic upgrades for BMW's (maybe other makes too, dunno). Their website claims to have MMI upgrades to add Apple Car Play & Android Auto. I have Apple Car Play iny i3 but not Android Auto, but I don't use Apple stuff. Their products are considerably cheaper than Bimmer Tech. I have sent them a message asking if they can help me as the i3 is not mentioned on their site. No response yet after a couple of days so maybe that tells you... Read more

Does anyone know the BMS code for the 96 battery cells, or for the 4 modules? I can already retrieve the lowest and highest cell voltages; that at least provides insight into the voltage spread across the cells within the battery. I’ve designed the app so that these codes can be entered manually and saved as defaults. I know other apps already do this. But I want to save the OBD data from every session so that, over time, a clear picture emerges of what is going on. P.S. The demo option... Read more
