The Four Cylinder 718s are Brilliant and Fundamentally Misunderstood

Now that I’ve had my Cayman S for about five months, I’ve come to realize what a fascinating, car it is. Yes, I love it. But more importantly I admire it, and admire the incredibly ambitious engineering and audacity that went into it. Automotive journalists in particular roundly criticized the car’s sound, and colored the overall perception of the car. I've increasingly come to think that these journalists fundamentally misunderstood the car because they judged it against what they... Intermittent PDK issues, no codes; low selector lever voltage?

Nightmare start to the day. I thought the PDK was officially DOA. 2014 with 241K on the clock. I apologize for the long story, but here it is. First drive of the day, and I lost reverse gear while backing out of the driveway. It would select the gear, but wouldn’t close the clutch. Just freewheeling. While trying to drive a few hundred feet to check the rest of its operation, all the shifts between 1-4 were either early, late, clunky or all of the above. And even acceleration in gear was... This is gonna hurt.. Porsche's bottom line..

While Porsche is dithering if they'll make an ICE based Boxster/Cayman, apparently Toyota has made up their mind: Porsche - if they limit themselves to electric - has handed Toyota a ready-made market for an ICE based mid-engine car for less than $80,000. And that means the new blood will be moving away from Porsche. What'cha think?

A quick hello to all, just making my first post.

I've never owned a sports car before, always have given priority to the practical aspect for the family, hauling things, and such. My sons have convinced me to finally get a car that I really like and can enjoy for myself. One of my sons owns a BMW M3 Performance and the other a Mustang GT with insane horsepower and beautiful lines. I however, have settled my sights on a Porsche 981 Boxster S. I'm actively searching for one with PASM+PSE+Sport Chrono. I've yet to test drive one as they... A quick hello to all, just making my first post.

X431 718 Coding Guide

Thank you for JTcx for the idea of starting a coding thread on this forum. I am working on a larger update which includes reorganizing the guide to group each item by function. However, in the meantime, to start off this thread, attached is a small update (version 2a) which corrects version 2 by listing the Shift Recommendation Menu as working and the Rain Sensor Menu as non-working. I will post the larger update shortly both here and on the 718forum. Edit: Changed attachment to version... X431 718 Coding Guide

Have you ever sold a car out of pure frustration?

Have you ever reached your absolute limit with a vehicle and sold it just because you were completely fed up? I'm talking about that definitive moment where an electrical gremlin, a busted part, or a recurring nightmare made you realize you were totally done. What was the exact issue that finally broke your patience, and what car was it?

Reinstalling Emission system

I previously converted this car to a full track car. I now want to reinstall the Cats and emission system so it will pass SMOG. I kept all the components and now I want to install them. Any suggestions?

Just bought my first 911

I just bought this 997 C2S cab on BaT and going to pick it up tomorrow. I'm really attached to my 987.1 CS so I don't know if I'm going to sell it or not. I'm really tempted to hold on to it and spend a little more time paying off the C2S. it will be interesting to compare the two cars.

981 2.7 (base) exhaust tip upgrade on a 987...

As a breakout thread from @dasschild 's fun " Best Mod Under $500? thread , I was amazed to have missed the hack that one can apparently bolt on a 981 2.7L (base) exhaust tip on a 987 for both more rumble and easier flow. Wow! Assuming the 981's base exhaust offers a wider pipe diameter in either the 987.1/987.2, of course -- there'll be better flow -- which is a good thing... 981 2.7 (base) exhaust tip upgrade on a 987...
