AeroTech Open Thread

Hi Everyone, My name is Charlie Savoie and I am the General Manager at RCS/AeroTech/Quest. I am here today to comment on the JetHitch product as well as to gather as much information as possible in order to better our company. I have been lurking on this site for the better part of a year hoping to glean any insight into what is a very niche market. Though it has helped, direct communication with the end-consumer is something I have wanted to take part in for a while. I value all opinions... Read more

Theory's L3 Build Thread!!! (I know, super clever subject)

It is finally time for Theory to personally dive into the realm of the M, N, and O motor. To this end I am very pleased to share the build of my L3 project! And yes, before anyone asks, TAPs have been secured, and the project has been approved so : - D The ultimate requirements for this project are threefold: First, build a very strong and substantial rocket that will support an L3 cert attempt at my home field. This means keeping the maximum altitude under 7,000 feet. Second, the rocket... Read more

TPU for weak parts

I'm trying to figure out a good option for the LES tower on a 1:70 SatV (and later a 1:52) where I don't have to replace it after every flight or have a complex recovery line to keep it from coming down escape tower first. My first idea was to make it extra strong and use soldered brass rod but that's begging for safety people to have a conniption. Then I thought I could print it out of ABS-CF and that was okay but wasn't as strong as I'd like. I tried PC and PC-CF and its stronger and... Read more

There is an error in the laws of physics. With flexible plastic paper, the propeller generates 2 reactions and 1 action.

Here I explain the process for moving a car from the inside without a fuel engine: Creating artificial gravity. With a propeller attached to a string. The weight will be on the string, which is tilted forward. All of this inside a plastic bag inflated to atmospheric pressure. And all of this inside the car. And the car in a zero-gravity environment. The weight will be on the rope. The propeller vents inside a plastic bag. The propeller does not vent in a cardboard box. In a flexible... Read more

MMX Nike-Hercules

Looking at my mini-motor Nike Hercules, I got an idea to downscale it to MMX size and see if I could get a workable print. I took it down 50% from original size, then added MMX motor mount and made walls of Nike boosters heavier, since downscale left them too thin. To make attachment points for Kevlar cord, I put a hole in side of booster, to insert a small piece of 1/16” rod then cover the hole. The rod gives me an anchor in the booster. For upper stage, I removed top section of... Read more
