Hi all, Warning- very long read. I wrote way too much! 35 year old male, newly qualified (level 2) looking for some advice here to a question I can’t answer- “Are all salons like the one I volunteered at?” I’m going to keep it as brief as I can but there is a lot to unpack. But for background, Hairdressing has been a lifelong ambition of mine and I have done it to show my 5 year old daughter that you can do anything you want to do. I recently qualified for my level 2 hairdressing, and... Read more
Hi everyone I introduced myself earlier, but I wanted to properly introduce what I’ve been working on. I come from a hairdressing background, including working as a Salon Manager for reputable brands, and I’ve been building an AI assistant specifically for hairdressers. The idea came from something really simple. When you work in a salon, there’s usually someone you can turn to and say, “Can you just check this?” When you’re a student, newly qualified or working for yourself, that... Read more

Sounds daft but I've heard from a couple of stylists now who've had new clients say they found them through ChatGPT rather than Google. Both had decent websites and strong Google reviews, and reckon the keywords in their reviews had something to do with it. Anyone here had that happen? And has anyone changed anything on their website or listings because of it?

Hi everyone, I just got back from vacation and my skin feels really dry. What skincare products do you recommend for a quick recovery?
Trying to build a realistic picture rather than the usual advice. If you rent a chair, what does your rent actually include? Products, reception, laundry, bookings, marketing, or is it purely the space? And did you find the chair through word of mouth, an ad, Instagram, or something else?

Been chatting to a few stylists and one thing that keeps coming up is that nobody ever asks to see their training or certificates. One had a CV sat there that no client has ever wanted to look at. Curious whether that matches your experience. Do clients ever ask what you're qualified in, or is it purely about the work you can show them? And does it change when you're moving salons or renting a chair, does anyone ask then?
