So this is probably asking a lot but I have a list of requirements for a camera and have no idea where to start. I am looking for a digital point and shoot that… -Shoots raw -Can fit in a trouser pocket relatively easily -Has manual controls (no need for manual focus) -decent auto focus -can be had second hand in good condition for £300. In an ideal world i would much rather a fixed focal length but that puts me in the Ricoh gr realm and that is far out of budget. Sensor size isn’t... Read more

Week 1 - Lines and Angles. Wanted to play around with how distortion messes with lines and angles and figured what better way to mess them up than with a FISHEYE. The perfect subject (in my head) was the collection of brutalist buildings along the South Bank. Partly because they're comprised almost entirely of straight lines and right angles, yet shot through a FISHEYE, suddenly feel a lot softer somehow, but also because i walk past there on my way to work... I have only taken camera gear as carry on when travelling on planes but am going away later this week and the allowance is 7kg per item and you are allowed two items! Hope that they do not enforce it! Have jacket ready to stuff with lenses if challenged! Has anyone seen this enforced on non-budget airlines long haul flights?? TIA

Wow. It looks like you have to pay just over £4000 one way or another if you want a fairly high end truly modern machine. Macbook pro 16 with sensible specs. The new mac studio. AMD rzyn Halo. The nvdia Asus G10 which is only for LLMs. All of them land at 4k+. Luckily my PC is still OK for another year or two but it does limit what I can do with it. Davinci resolves struggles a little, local LLMs are restricted to really dumb models. 32GB RAM is a little limiting and I wish I had specced... Read more
