Sparkie to Windie?

Hi all I did leave a post on the main page introducing myself, but I can't see it anywhere? Anyway I am a self employed spark of nearly 17 years, sole trader. I am seriously thinking of jumping ship and setting up a cleaning business instead. I recently moved from Wales to Scotland and so I am having to start again in one respect. I do enjoy the electrics 'most' of the time but i've had enough of the rules and regulations and scrambling through attics, being on my hands and knees for hours... Read more

Patch windie harassing again - thoughts?

Hey everyone, quick question regarding a windie from months ago that was demanding I stay off his turf exc exc or he’d do whatever whatever, thought I’d keep it peaceful at the time and not tell him off thought I could get some tips and a guide out of it and choosing to not fight him over it as I was really new and thought any help would be great. Long story short he never gave me any tips or help just said “you can work there for now I’m doing you a favour” and “I’ll help you out soon any... Read more

what future stuff will there be for the trade?

When those early pioneers of the pole began, many years ago with their cumbersome home made poles made out of plumbing pipes, brushes made out of janitors brooms and mops etc, I bet they couldnt believe the prgress theres been: ultra strong yet light poles, remote control of water flow to name but a few. So, nothing stands still, what are some of the ideas of the future that will become reality in the business? A bit like tomorrows world, its hard for us to imagine how it may be. Anyone have... Pricing my first commercial

I need some help working out how to price this contract. They want the entire external and some internal spots near reception and meeting rooms. It's a large building I imagine based on the floor plan I have that the other side is the same as this and at least the front has 6 triple windows and a large double glass door and surrounding panes. I have no idea how to price it reasonably. But if I get this one right then it'll give me the confidence to price the other 2 commercial... Read more

Door knocking necessary?

Hi all, I’m currently doing a lot of research into the window cleaning/exterior cleaning industry, as I’d love to eventually start my own exterior cleaning business, with window cleaning being the main service to begin with. I’ve read quite a few posts and bits of advice on here, and one thing that comes up a lot is canvassing and door knocking being one of the best ways to build up a customer base, especially when first starting out. Personally, I think I’d be pretty good at the social... Read more
