THought I would post this here as well since I'm open to Salt Water setup. Hello all. It's been a loooong time since I've been here. A busy life it's been for sure. Unfortunately I have neglected my tank and to make a long story short, have to completely break it down and re-establish. My question is what would you do with a new tank setup? I have had SA Cichlids for the last few years. Tank is a custom 33" x 36" x 24", so around 120G. Fire away! I'm open to Freshwater or Salt... Read more

I've found that water movement can have a noticeable impact on the overall look of a pond. Many larger properties use commercial fountains because they provide an attractive display while helping improve water circulation. While researching different approaches, I came across https://www.protopond.com/collections/pond-fountains and noticed several fountain styles designed for larger ponds. What factors do you think are most important when selecting a fountain for a commercial or... Read more

I miss my mini reef so I'm gonna set back up my 3 gallon salt water. I know it may sound like a stupid question but, if I wanted to be a dork about it, could I put a protein skimmer on my mini reef? And no, that's not a typo, it's a 3 gallon, not a 30.
Hey all! I've been researching protein skimmers for a solid week now. Man, these things are like tube amplifiers--so many details, so much nonsense, it's hard for a newb to know what to do. My tank will be a 240-gallon FOWLR (until it inevitably becomes a reef tank). I'm trying to keep the skimmer around $400 without buying junk, and I've been looking at skimmers rated for ~400-gallon tanks. (I guess some skimmer manufacturers actually rate their models accurately, but most do not.) Do... Read more
I have a pair of Tinfoil Barbs who look like have spawned, the female looks like she is carrying the eggs. She is eating well and very active. Im going to switch them to a different tank with no other fish and once she releases the eggs and he fertilizes them I will remove the parents. This is a first for me, I have been keeping freshwater fish for 25 years and never had Barbs spawn before. I guess we will see how this goes.

I've been doing this for almost 40 years now but I've gotten dated on products this past few years. Mostly because I ran some long term project tanks for the past decade+ who have started passing on leaving me in a weird spot. My biggest questions my need of a few products to simplify things. First - I had a Congo river eddy setup that has lost its primary fish. 55g down to 1 synodontis nivingritis and 1 erupts. I picked up a full grown older blue peacock as a centerpiece for the next few... Read more

As the title says. I doubt too many know of my planted tank after all these years gone by. Well here is the next adventure that I had even more ability to let the creativity flow. Today I woke up with one of my tetras lying on its back at the bottom, it caught my attention when I noticed something bright on the substrate. Last night every fish were swimming normally, even today. I already did a 25% - 30% water change because after testing it looks like I have some nitrite and ammonia. I have had them for over a year now so I don't know what could've caused ammonia and nitrite to show up again. Also, don't know if this is what caused my tetra to be ill, all... Read more
