Hi, I have a porting related question here. I'm slowly doing up an old chainsaw in my spare time - an old black top Husqvarna 61 - sanding back and polishing the plastic, fixing any niggles it came to me with, and most importantly modifying it to reach it's potential. I was going to replace the piston and cylinder to something bigger with closed transfers but after taking the cylinder off I decided I'll see what I can do to this one first before or instead of replacing it. Does anyone do anything special to protect the straps on a ratchet strap if they have to route it over a relatively sharp corner? By sharp, I don't mean knife blade sharp, just a 90 deg corner that doesn't really have a radius on it. One of the first times I hauled my tractor, I made the mistake of running one of the straps over the lift arm on the 3pt hitch. The edge of the lift arm had cut about 1/3 of the way across the strap by the time I arrived home so I've avoided making that... Read more

Thought maybe you guy's that scrounge wood, might share some of your scrounging methods with the seemingly growing crowd of newbie wood burners. From what I have been reading, they would be quite appreciative to hear how you score, and where you score. There is a lot of useful and interesting information scattered throughout the firewood forum.
