I’ve had another look around the forum and eventually found several replies on the same subject. very helpful. I actually have two hose adapters and have decided to tap out one of the sensor threads to a suitable size plus an adapter. I managed to get a different gauge and sensor whereby the sensor was thin enough to fit through a 1/4 npt entry which will all work. continuing to fit this to the top hose position i’ve now discovered that to get the adapter plus new hose sections at each end is a pain to insert and fit between the radiator and thermostat housing even with heating the two hose pieces to be flexible enough. There is not enough room to flex and manipulate properly. I may have to consider draining and moving the radiator left slightly to do this. Some of the forum discussions have asked questions about repositioning the adapter somewhere else such as the engine water tap or else elsewhere. Quite correctly one member said that although some positions may not provide a definitive reading the main point is to establish a consistent reading. So, on that basis replacement in the bottom hose be okay? I realise that reading might be not correct but at least would establish median. The bottom hose is far easier. Are there any tricks with inserting into the top hose position that would make the problem easier?

Hello from Oz. When machining Minor uprights to fit Marina stub axles for the disc brake conversion, should the Marina axles be a press fit or interference fit into the uprights? I am hoping Philthehill can advise, as l note he has made this modification succesfully.
Lovely job. Can you tell us what you did and what you used? They look a really pleasing cherry red. Stephen Yes I’ve taken a few pics as I’ve gone along. I used products from Furniture Clinic. Bought way too much of some of the products though so I’ve loads left over. They supply it in any shade , I requested Red to match my existing interior, is it called Cherokee Red? It’s quite a long process though. Probably taken about 8 hours so far and need to apply top coat of sealant tomorrow.
I've just looked at my car history folder and found that a complete spring kit was bought in January 2021 from ESM. Looking at the kits supplied now, I'm not sure the clamps come off.
Thank you all for your comments. I'm 75 so I don't think I'll be tearing round any corners now! I did wonder if I could buy spring clamps that just putting an extra one on the front part of the spring would save me all the effort of turning the springs round or do the clamps come off easily and I could take the extra one off the back and use that on the front?
Emberton Imperial. The heater vent tubing is the same as used in early Land Rovers. Same tubing for both round Smiths heater and later square type. I had a delay fitting this and the ducting sat in my garage for ages. Mice like eating it! https://embertonimperial.com/products/r ... es-2-2a-2b Stephen
Hi, Anyone able to help me source the convoluted tube used from both sides of heater to windscreen vents, or a suitable substitute. Thanks, John
Hi Paul, Did you get any joy with demister vents. I’m looking for a pair as well Cheers John
Sorry i should have been clearer... So for a bog standard 1098 Minor engine rebuild/recon Coventry Classic Engines should be OK?
I personally would not fit the aftermarket crank seal conversion kit to any 'A' Series owned by me as I consider it totally unnecessary. Do a good job in assembling the engine and there will be no requirement for any aftermarket crank seal.
So for a bog standard 1098 Minor engine they should be OK?
