DEYE Hybrid Inverters in ESS mode

I’m proposing to use a 3 phase 29.9kW Deye Hybrid Inverter with a HV stack to start and spin a 5.5kW induction motor for 2 mins max…about 5 x per day. We intend to use a soft starter plus an inductive reactor to tame the inrush current and possible harmonics to about 35-40 Amps spread across 3 phases. Has anyone attempted such a project?

Sungrow Battery Grid Import / Charging Issue

Are your loads increasing during the charging process as well? The grid supply is limited, and if your loads increase, there will be a reduction in the charge rate I also think you may still need to check your grid voltage during charging. You should be able to graph the voltage in IsolarCloud - see below (have to use the filter button to select voltage).

Sungrow Battery Grid Import / Charging Issue

This behaviour starts after 20–30 minutes of charging, when the battery SOC is usually around 20–30%. Yes, I have two stacks of Sungrow SBR 224 batteries with 10kW hybrid inverter. My house is single-phase, but there are no restrictions on importing power from the grid or using grid power at home.

Sungrow Battery Grid Import / Charging Issue

It could be limited by the battery if it is happening after reaching 80% or more SOC. Most systems ramp down the charge rate as they approach 100%, but with such a large 44.8kWh battery, I wouldn’t expect this to happen unless the battery cells are not balanced properly. I assume you have 2 or more stacks of batteries. Otherwise, there could be a grid voltage problem which may be limiting the grid charge rate. Have you monitored the voltage during charging?

Sungrow Battery Grid Import / Charging Issue

Thanks, Svarky, it’s a routine issue. Sungrow support said that if the battery’s internal temperature rises while charging, the BMS will reduce power to protect the cells. This is normal for the current firmware, but it seems odd since it’s winter here. Is this a limitation of Sungrow or a problem with my inverter?

Sungrow Battery Grid Import / Charging Issue

Is this happening every day? This could be due to an overheating issue with the inverter. Is there adequate cooling and clearance around the inverter? It could also be due to other factors, such as your loads and the battery temperature.

Sungrow Battery Grid Import / Charging Issue

I installed a Sungrow SH10RS 10 kW hybrid inverter with a 44.8 kWh SBR224 battery, connected to my 6.6 kW solar panel system. I’m facing an issue with forced charging from the grid. The inverter initially imports 10 kW from the grid, but after 20-30 minutes, it drops to around 7-6 kW. Has anyone else faced a similar kind of issue?
