Getting U back to the road

Hi folks, I have had a long break from building my chopper, and here is one of the reasons. I want his old flathead to work like it should, so i took the carb out. Spotted a few problems just looking at it, like worn out choke shaft and throttle plate not closing completely, it also had too long bolts. The gasket between carb and intake manifold was probably leaking. I remember my grandfather had this carb out about... Getting U back to the road

Mikuni VM38 on a UL

Does anyone run one? If so, what jets and needle are you guys using for your BTSV?

Harley juice drum brake

I have a rear brake setup that is dragging after I step on the rear brake pedal and release it. If I crake the bleeder valve the press is released. It’s the late 60’s juice drum brake on my 1969 Shovelhead. Unfortunately the components are all Vtwin. There only a couple years old though. I’m thinking my wheel cylinder might be bad and I did find a decent Wagner Lockheed wheel cylinder body in my parts. Does anyone know if a decent rebuild kit is still made for them.

Mikuni vm38 cast air cover

I’ve been trying to find an air cleaner or an carb cover / air horn for the Mikuni vm38 I’m useing on an engine I built last winter. Everything seemed to stick out into my leg really far. So I cast an air cover and machined a mounting bracket for the cover. I figured I’d post a few pictures of it since I’ve had the discussion on here before with people about how to support a vm Mikuni to a big twin and what to use as an air cover. [ATTACH... General Amal help- for dual carb panhead

So awhile back i killed myself making dual carb panheads for no reason other than I determined to see it through. Thread here . I opted for Amals. So, i bought brand new Premier 932s. I've run about every usual harley carb and made it a point to understand and tune them well (Linkert, S&S's, Dellorto DHLA, SU, bendix, etc.), but the Amal is new to me. So let's assume I know everything there is to know about... General Amal help- for dual carb panhead

1977 FLH with Bendix Carb

Hello, I have a 1977 FLH with less than 9K original miles. It starts, idles and rides perfectly . . . for a while. However, after about 30-60 minutes of city riding, the front cylinder plug fouls and stops firing. Letting it sit for a while, or pulling the plug and cleaning it up, fixes the problem. I worry if I try to adjust the carb to fix the problem (make it run slightly leaner) it will create a new problem. Any thoughts on adjustments? Also, I thought this was an all stock bike... 1977 FLH with Bendix Carb

Just another shovel starter issue

I have searched high and low for answers, come up short time and time again. So I’m hoping a few of the wizards on here can give me some guidance please. I took my stock primary off my 72, to fit a tin primary that’s suited for an electric starter. First up, it didn’t sit flush... Just another shovel starter issue
