Tires for my 2023 Kia Niro EX?

I have a 2023 KIA Niro EX with a current read of 24,000 miles. At last tire rotation the shop owner told me I needed new tires. I wanted a second opinion and went to my mechanic who told me "Your tires are fine and you have a few thousand more miles before you need new" Is there a way to determine exactly when one needs to consider new tires? Thanks all - appreciated.

In channel window deflectors

On my other cars I have installed Weathertech in channel window delfectors - but they don't have them for the Niro. I see some other places offering them, but they only go up to 2025 - no mention of 2026 - I have emailed them asking if they also fit 2026, no response. Anybody have them??? Anybody know if anything about the windows changed for 2026 vs earlier years?? (I think not). I like being able to 'crack' the windows on a hot day when parking the car and it isn't noticeable the windows... In channel window deflectors

My first mod

The fact that the light in the back always comes on and takes ~ 20 minutes to go out annoyed me. I bought a small rocker switch off eBay (2 for $3.40) https://www.ebay.com/itm/377367796978?var=645697642142 Next, I pried the light out - very thin and small flat screwdriver - start at the rear, pry up, then pry the front... Cruise button stopped working

Bought my 2022 Kia Niro EV last week with 43k miles. On the third day, the Cruise button stopped functioning with no tapping feel when the button is pushed. I took it back to the dealer. When he test drove it, the Cruise worked again. Afterwards, I noticed the Info button (next to the Cruise) mostly worked if I press one side or the other. Today, the Cruise stopped working but with the tapping feel. The Info button started working fully. I’ll need to contact the dealer again but too late... Cruise button stopped working

ABRP question

2026 Niro EV Wind. I created an account with ABRP, but when I try to add my Niro, the only option is “e-Niro”. I know that that is the British designation for the US Niro EV (I think). So, am I supposed to use that? It doesn’t seem right, as I am guessing that the e-Niro is not quite the same as the Niro EV (for instance, are there Wind and Wave versions of the e-Niro?). Or, for some reason, does ABRP think I am in Britain (or Europe)? I notice when I log in the map that is shown is Lund... ABRP question

Just finished my first 1000 miles hypermiling my new Niro HEV

Well I just finished my first thousand miles on my new 2025 Niro HEV and I'm impressed. It looks like I'm only getting slightly less than I did with my 3 Priuses using the same hypermiling techniques. However, with my Niro, I'm using the regenerative braking paddles that weren't available on the Priuses that I owned, which were a 2013 and a 2016 HEV and a 2019 PHEV. I've also owned a Honda Clarity, PHEV and 3, 2022 & 2023 Nissan LEAF EV's. According to the trip computer on the Niro, which... Just finished my first 1000 miles hypermiling my new Niro HEV

Tire repair possible?

Took my Niro EV in for a front-end alignment and the salesman pointed this little problem out with the right front tire. It's at most 2 mm of depth. I'm guessing that it would have been deeper were it not for the steel ply but I've only had this car for a couple of months I haven't hit anything. The salesperson says this is not safe and needs to be replaced - potential blowout. Curiously, I overheard the same guy telling someone else that it's normal for a car battery (not a traction...
