In the past four days I've had to break out my chainsaw to cut up three trees. One on my property, one for my next door neighbor and one for my BIL/SIL. We've had some nasty storms blow through these parts recently. The result is I've procured some nice burning wood for the upcoming cold season. More importantly, the younger neighbor now unsterstands how important a saw is to have in inventory in case of fallen trees. I took him to the local hardware store to buy a Stihl. SIL/BIL , still... So I found my old bug out bag. I haven’t updated it or even thought about it in about ten years. I’ll dismantle and do an inventory of it this weekend, but at the very least, all the semi-perishables will have to be checked and probably replaced. Even freeze dried foods and meds have shelf lives. I have some newer equipment to replace older stuff. I recently got a really nice lightweight tarp for shelter for example. I’ve always considered myself a "Lone Wolf." I work as a solo entrepreneur, I go to the gym on my own. But something changed today during my swim. The pool was empty except for me. It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy with life in general, and wanted to get in here to draw attention to a possible problem that some of you might encounter. About a month ago or there about I had to be admitted to the hospital for a week. While I was there, my wife and my son took it upon themselves to do some cleaning and organizing of some things that I had not been able to get done yet. Do you save old containers? Food jars, glass or plastic bottles, plastic trays, boxes? Anything you think might be useful at a later date or in an emergency? I do. One of the more unusual things it keep are old prescription bottles. My wife and I both take maintenance medication so we generate a significant quantity in a multitude of sizes. I’m in north Central Arkansas near Flippin (yes Flippin) Arkansas. Once in a while I see military aircraft buzzing by during the day but never at night. I have noticed but never really watched a couple of recent YouTube vids regarding increased aircraft activity over Arkansas in the last week or two. Well now I can add this to my experience. They say prep for Tuesday. Well, my Tuesday came today. The power was out when I came home. Was 80 degrees in my apt. I found the battery-operated fan and my camping lantern. Luckily, I only had to wait a couple of hours for the electricity to come back on. Make sure to have something for the hot days. I suspect possibly the demand on the grid locally was what brought it down.

Yesterday I went for a dog walk with a friend into an old tree plantation which is now looked after by the Woodland Trust and got lost. Now this place isn’t the wilderness it’s semi rural but still. This woodland is made up of pine trees and various UK natural species and it’s dense. It has steep undulating hills and no views of anything more then 15 metres, even at the highest point. I'm a "natural born citizen" with no violations of the law other than a couple of traffic tickets 20+ years ago - but this machine doesn't know that. I might resemble someone it's looking for. .
