Anyone hanging out at Ocean Springs Yacht Club for the big Hobie 16 event? Wish I could get down there. They had a separate regatta first for Masters, Grand Masters, & Great Grand Masters. (Old folks) Schedule and pictures from the event so far are here: https://osyc.com/sailing/hobie-16-international/

1998 Hobie 18SX free to new home. Located Emerald Isle NC trailer axle shot. Tramp, sails, daggerboards, hulls good shape.
hi friends -- I have a new-to-me Nacra 5.0 that I have added a vertical beam, roller, and winch to the trailer to aid in raising the mast. As of now, I've attached a bridle rope to the spreader bar that I'm hooking with the winch ( photo here ). The mast is difficult to control this way and wants to rotate away from center line when being raised which causes the winch strap to run off the roller. I'm thinking of using the unused hole in the bracket that the forestay attaches to with a 16' diamond wire with a loop on the end that the winch hook can attach to, raise the mast, allow me to secure the forestay, then secure the wire with a tarp strap when not in use. Any thoughts?
Just purchased a new to me Dart 16. In the rigging guide, it suggests attaching a mast head float to prevent the boat from turning turtle. I contacted a Dart dealer (in the UK) and they don't carry Dart floats, but mentioned some people attach a Hobie float to the top. I am wondering, do I need a mast head float? How bad is it to turn turtle? Assuming a float is a good idea, does anyone have advice on how to attach it? the top of the dart mast is a very different profile than the Hobie.
Hello, The Super Cat 17 is missing a Jib sail, Main sail is in ok condition. The seller had a new tramp made according to his measurements, I hope it fits. Seller admitted he has never sailed the boat. I will also need Cat tracks to move it from the trailer to the water. My previous experience: Sailing since a child, started on the sunfish, and Beetle Cat (not a catamaran. A cat boat has one large mainsail with mast stepped a few inches aft from the bow, and typically wide beam compared to the length, with center board. The Beetle cat is a 100 year old, one design popular in New England). I have been windsurfing since 1978, I taught sailing on fin keel spade rudder Monohulls in my 20's. I went to college starting age 30. I still windsurf and have been sailing & racing the Weta Trimaran since fall 2023. My company: Rick's Small Sailboats LLC in now the Weta Trimaran dealer for Florida and nearby States. So does anyone have suggestions on where to buy a Jib for a Supercat 17 and Cat tracks to get the boat from the trailer to the water? Thanks, Rick
I think this would be a good thread to get going, maybe even make it a sticky. What have you tried to buy in recent years and found isn't be being made/sold anymore? What did you do about it? And if you know the story behind its disappearance, even better.
Am I just being an idiot? I'm looking and not seeing.
I am looking for recommendations for a cat that can perform well in the chop that forms on the Chesapeake Bay and some largish inland lakes. I'm looking for a sked design so shallow waters and beaching are easy. I will be sailing solo some of the time, but with up to two other people other times. I am 6'5" and 200 lbs so I have a fair amount of righting moment in me. I've sailed the Wave many time, but found it will often stall in the chop, especially with another person. I sailed the Getaway a few times, but not in the chop so not sure what it's chop chops are. Also, I'd like a boat a bit more tunable than the Wave and Getaway. For example, the Getaway does not have a traveler for the jib and there is no downhaul pully.
Next week, September 22-25, 2026, the F-18 Nationals competition is being held at Coligny Beach , Hilton Head Island , SC. Hilton Head has become the most active east coast catamaran sailing group I'm aware of. Joe Tobin has organized this group into a very active group, and I hope to attend some events in the near future. Right now Joe Bennett aka Joyrider is at the island and has done some video on location. Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USOEQA-PJO0 Here is the schedule of events. Repairing a 86 prindle 18 Classic, did a leak check, no issues but under the rear crossbar by the 2 rubber plugs there is a small hole, got air out of one and none on the other. Is that a vent hole? is it supposed to be open, sealed? Also fixing up trailer, what size rollers do most people use for a p18, Im thinking 10 in. Thanks
Hi, I have a 1997 Tremolino 23' T-Gull which uses the Supertramp mast (~28' 5" or 29'). I need to secure a new or good used mast for the boat, where does one find a Supertramp mast and are there any for sale in the community? Thanks, Rob Bean (Colorado) 970.214.3414
