I fell in love with Ozzy's music when I was a teenager and love it to this day. In this lesson I'll examine iconic rhythm parts from the Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee and Zakk Wylde eras. We’ll look at some rhythmic/technical ideas from 'I Don’t Know,' 'Crazy Train,' 'Bark at the Moon' and 'Miracle Man.' This includes concepts such as pedal tones, muting, syncopation and chord movement. You can then use these ideas in your own rhythm playing. It's so much fun revisiting these classic... Read more

My favorite VST for my DAW is Scuffham Amps S-Gear but I am always looking for cool new software. I have recently been playing with Amplifikation 360 and it's very impressive. It's also completely FREE. You do need a DAW to import it into. I use Waveform pretty much any modern DAW will do. Take a lookie by clicking the URL below. There are a ton of sound samples. I think y'all be impressed. Amflikation 360 <------Linkie Poo If you need a good DAW, Waveform Free is... Read more

Back when I was at college I spent a lot of time transcribing Robben Ford, Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather, and I started noticing some really interesting similarities in the way they approach their solos. In this lesson, I'll show you what I discovered from transcribing these players — and how a surprisingly small amount of harmonic vocabulary can produce a sophisticated blues, rock and fusion sound.

I know a few people on here have G&L guitars or basses. Since they went under it's been hard/impossible to find parts. Thankfully, Mighty Mite bought everything left over. They have a bunch of parts and they are even going to start making their pickups again. They have the winders G&L used. No affiliation, yadda, yadda. Unfortunately they don't have trem arms that would fit my 1994 Legacy. My method (listed elsewhere) of modifying a Hipshot trem arm did the trick for me.

It can be overwhelming to know how to approach soloing over a song. In the lesson below, I'll walk you through a simple 5-step approach that you can use over any chord progression. I start by analyzing the chords, finding triads on 3 strings, arpeggiating those and then creating melodies. By using devices such as common tones and half-step movement between the chords, your solos will sound melodic and connected to the chords.
