Forum logo

I'm looking at maybe updating the forum logo, what does everyone think, there are 5 to chose from. I've added a poll: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Choose one, or if you don't like any of them - no.

The Moon had a red face when I said goodbye, Barcud

It is truly heart-breaking to lose Brangwyn's dad (and half-brother) Barcud 'Red Kite' within less than 3 weeks of his youngest son. I turned around from picking up Bran's body from the cage to notice that Barcud was not interested in food and looked very thin. Within the two days since cage clean he had managed to lose nearly 200g. My heart sank. Amazingly, Barcud bounced back and stabilised pretty quickly so I thought it was just a heatwave related incident. Because he... Read more

Washable Bedding Advice

Hello I currently use chenile bath mats as I found that bits of hay was getting stuck in the hay pile in fleece liners and it was a nightmare but I'm finding that bath mats tend to fill up my machine drum quickly resulting in two loads per cage change. Could I use these as a main base liner and bath mats just in the pee areas under hides? Or would it be worth investing in liners again and putting bath mats on top also where the hay tray is so bits dont get lodged under the fleece pile?

Eriathwens piggies

So, totally copying Flutterby's great idea and making my own thread for all my pigs so I'm not cluttering up the forum with my daily piggy pictures Who better to start it off than Miss Bramble getting some of her special porridge to help pick her weight up a bit, I'm not looking forward to the mess shes going to end up making of herself but I'm sure with this heat she will appreciate a nice wipe down with a damp cloth anyway! ... Patrick has a lump 😔

Gorgeous Patrick has a round, pea size lump in the crook of his back. I will be phoning the vets first thing tomorrow and get it checked out. He’s fine in himself and is still gaining weight. He’s always had an itchy patch on his back. He’s had mites and lice at least three times and he’s not even 1 yet! Maybe he’s bitten himself. I gave him a brush recently as he had lots of seed heads in his fur and I didn’t notice it then. Maybe I caused it by the brushing? Or maybe a seed head has... Read more

🌈Rusty 🌈 2017-2026

Rusty Roo It has been three weeks since our ray of sunshine crossed The Rainbow Bridge our hearts are broken and I've struggled to find the words but here is a little tribute to our amazing boy Rusty Rusty Roo On 24th March 2025, Merrypigs asked us if we could foster Rusty, and on 27th March he arrived with us. Little did we know then just how incredibly special he would become to us. We will be forever grateful to Merrypigs for trusting us with this beautiful boy and giving us the... Read more

pairing not working out too well...

Hello all, so after Eppu passed away about a month ago, his fresh new baby companion found himself alone. Being a baby, that's not good at all, so I tried to pair him with Baldrick (5 years old skinny, the baby is about 3 months old now), who has always been interested in other piggies but never found anyone he actually got along with, as he's quite dominant and touchy-feely. For a couple of weeks that worked out fine, not as perfect as with Eppu but there was no aggression. However, that... Read more

Need Surgery Advice- Spay/Dental

Hello, My 4y2mo old female guinea pig was diagnosed with ovarian cysts 2.5 weeks ago. They have already begun to grow (now measure left:1.5cm + right:2.2cm in diameter). I have never had a pig sedated or put under anesthesia— so I am terrified. I am in the United States, and no vets in my region offer hormone injections, as they believe they do not work despite client testimony. On Saturday 8/29, I brought her to the vet as her weight dropped from 1040g to 977g (she has since gained it... Read more

Two spoilt pigs 😊

Having just spent £50 on gorgeous tunnels and cuddle sacks for Christmas it was now hay time. That was another £55! They are the reason I work one day a week! Lol. My boys really are spoilt. Guinea pigs are not cheap pets. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
