Without over complicating it, is it usually better to step down a little in hp, to lose weight hanging off the stern? For example, a Honda 115 vs Honda 100, the 115 is approximately 110 lbs heavier. Education is my reason for being here, and I want a 16 to 18 foot aluminum boat, deep v hull, to use mostly for cruising large lakes, in central BC. I don't plan to race anyone, but will pull a skier, or tube occasionally, do a little fishing, but mostly cruise 60 to 125 plus miles per day, so... Read more

Hi All - new member here. I'm just removed the floor in my 95 Lund Rebel. It was time as the carpet was worn through and the original floor had several spots that were soft. i have been researching options as well as the older threads on this site and I am trying to come up with a game plan for the floor restoration. I have a few questions about floor material compatibilty and I was hoping those that have worked with these materials could weigh in: 1) Still deciding using aluminum sheet... Read more

Hi, I just wanted to share some info in case anyone finds it useful. We have a 11’-8” Sears model 62127 aluminum Jon boat. In 1971 our father bought it used from an auction at high school in Massachusetts that had a pond by the school where it had been kept as a rescue boat. It’s been in our family ever since. Our family spent many hours in it over the years. Our dad replaced the outside transom once sometime in the 90s (which had since rotted) and the inside plywood had also rotted. I... Read more
