It is not often that I read a good article on the topic of LP versus Digital. But to see such a well done one by a mass market publication, i.e. LA Weekly, is quite a surprise. This is a review, listening tests and detailed measurements of the Luxsin X8 balanced DAC and headphone amplifier. It was sent to me by the company and costs US $699. Lots of effort has gone into making that angular front panel as to tilt up the beautiful display upward. This makes it a lot easier to see and use as it is a very responsive touchscreen. @Douk Audio Hi, I'm considering buying the Douk Audio U2 and have one question before I order. I'll be using it with a Mac, connected via USB, with the audio going out through the Toslink optical output. My requirement: the Mac's own system volume slider and keyboard volume keys must still work to control the volume, not grayed out/disabled and no software workaround. Hi all I’m trying to decide whether I should keep a broad 700 Hz cut in my living room setup. The filter in question is: 700 Hz / -4 dB / Q 1.0 It was used in setup 1 and but not in Setup 2. The speakers are DALI Oberon 3 in a normal stereo triangle in a living room, and I also have one subwoofer in the system. The main speakers were not moved between setups. I'm planning on buying some Kef R3s for my DJ setup and office and wondering options of how to mount them. For the DJ setup they need to be high for standing, and in a roughly 1m equilateral triangle. For the office/desk I'd want them pointing down and much wider. Questions: 1. What's the best way to wall mount the Kef R3s? They have some treads on the bottom. I've seen TV arms used which could work but I'm not sure how best to attach the speakers as they don't have vesa mounts. 2... Read more

what are the main things you would be looking for if you spent 1000 usd on a portable headphone amp? is it sinad? is it power? and based on whats most important to you which amps would you get at this price point?

Today I asked Google a question which elicited a completely incorrect answer. Actually I made a statement, designed to elicit a response. The statement was " The high gain setting of my headphone amp sounds better even at low volumes. Bass is more powerful etc.". In AI's overview answer it said "Better Volume Control: Many volume knobs sound unbalanced or thin at the very bottom of their turn.
