I bought a bread maker, which is a completely new experience for me. They were already being sold in Argentina in the 90s, but they were very expensive. I once tried making bread by hand and it turned out terribly: a brick! So this bread maker has been a lifesaver. The first thing I'm going to share with you, because I wouldn't want to die without writing down... Read more

I don't like the fact that I'll never be able to have a midnight snack without taking insulin. I don't like that I'll always be worrying about my bg going too high or low while my friends probably will never give a second of thought to their blood sugar levels. Most my friends probably don't even know what that is. And whenever I burnout I don't really have anyone to talk to since I don't know anyone with diabetes, they'll offer general support but they'll never fully understand. Anyone can... Read more
Hi I'm 69, diagnosed with T2 10 years ago. I take 1500mg Metformin a day. Was lucky enough to be diagnosed at a time when keto and low carb were becoming widely known. Also when freestyle libres were available. I am finding it more difficult as time goes on though. Recently I added protein powder to my breakfast greek yogurt only to find it spiking my blood sugar. The powder had zero carbs, I checked. But the protein was processed for quick absorption so I wondered if this was the problem. I... Read more

At a yearly blood check i was called by tbe doctor and told I had a HB1aC of 52. He told me I was diabetic, and needed to take metaformin, this was 6 weeks ago I'm now on 2000mg a day. So ive been self managing, cutting carbs, eating protein Fibre etc. I got a CGM early on and started noting what... Read more

Hi there, I have not posted on here in a long time, but I thought I would give an update on my eyes. I am T2, self inflicted. Up to 2018 I was getting multiple injections and Laser in both eyes, to fight the eye bleeds. I have a scar on my right retina. Since 2018 I have been travelling to the UK from Dublin twice a year to receive the Noctura 400 masks, plus I receive an eye scan. Since I started using the mask my retinopathy has stabilised, and I have had no need of treatment . I also... Read more

Hi, type 2 and last Hba1c was 49. Just seen cardiac consultant about heart rhythm and she seemed surprised that GP had not offered me dapagliflozin. I had not heard of this drug & I am not keen on more meds and as Hba1c not terrible is seems the benefit will be to my heart. Is anyone on the drug to help both diabetes and their heart?
