Just spent four days camping on the Battenkill in Vermont between Arlington and Manchester. Man that is a tough river. Though my wife was with me and we did a lot of sight seeing I did spend a lot of time along the river and a good part of that fishing. In four days I never saw a rising fish or any nymphing activity, though a couple days had good hatches of small BWO's. Wading the river was brutal for my 71 year old legs. Where I was there was all round goonie rocks anywhere from softball... Four Days on the Battenkill in Vermont

Nice to meet you. This is my first time participating in this forum. I'm participating from Japan. I apologize for my poor English. I acquired this Winston rod second-hand. It seems to be what is called a Pre-IM6, but I don't know the details. Could you please tell me about this rod? ・8-foot, 4-weight, 2-piece ・All-cork down-locking reel seat ・Old Winston logo that says 'San Francisco' I found some search results for longer and heavier line weight rods, but I couldn't find details on the... about the older Winston graphite rods.

I’m really enjoying the Scientific Anglers Ampltude Smooth Dynamic line and trying to discover if there is a very similar alternative now it’s discontinued? Alternatively if there are sources where i can still buy the line (new or even second hand) I’d be interested to hear from you please. Thx 👍

Today, I stepped up to West Yellowstone for the Wretched Mess fly fishing festival. I went to listen to a great presentation by Craig Matthews and Yvon Chouinard on their book Pheasant Tail Simplicity. Then, I went to view the various vender booths. At the Winston Rod one, I had a chance to meet Lance Robertson and his wife Jeannie (sp?). They are the new owners of Winston. Great couple. They live in the Dillon area and both fly fish. Lance has a background in the oil industry. I sense... Had a chance to meet Winston’s new owner today

I'm in the market for some casual clothing. Regardless of being a fishing brand that I do genuinely like, Simms clothing actually fits me pretty well, which is difficult when you're over 6'6". Normally, I buy stuff in my local fly shop, but they've recently closed. They always had sales on last seasons' stuff. So I hopped onto Simms website, and to my surprise, they have gotten quite expensive. Like; noticeable more than other companies. I used to view Patagonia as the "expensive" casual... Simms Clothing
