I realize that we have many resource stocks (energy, materials, etc) and this is largely what I rely on for my commodities exposure. But I'm a bit curious about these commodities futures ETFs. As far as I know, there are two in Canada: ZCOM and TCOM Does anyone know more about these? Do they track the commodity index properly, and is there any point to using them? ZCOM has 0.30% MER and aims to track the Bloomberg Commodity Index Total Return. TCOM has 0.70% MER (way too high) and tracks... Commodities ETF in Canada

I hold small positions in most of these. Each of them crashed within the last couple of years, but now I'm starting to think they may have found their footing again. Perhaps the worst is over? CSU - Constellation was famously a great performer, then it crashed 57% due to concerns that new AI tech was going to destroy old software. It's now back above its 200-day moving average, which caught my attention. TRI - Thomson Reuters in another software company, also previously a... Stocks that rise from the dead
For those here who are Canada–U.S. dual citizens, we’ve launched a petition concerning the unequal treatment of Canadian TFSAs under the Canada–U.S. tax framework: https://c.org/nwbCLX42NC Most Canadians can use a TFSA exactly as intended — investment income and capital gains are tax-free. But the U.S. generally does NOT recognize the TFSA’s tax-free status . As a result, Canadians who also hold U.S. citizenship may face U.S... Hi, I am at a point in my life where I am not sure how best to proceed. I am not the greatest in investing, and would say I have a pretty low risk tolerance. Having said that, I only invest my RRSPs at this point and I have placed most of that in equity - I am confident what I have put in my RRSP would not be taken out before retirement. I am an early 30s single working professional. Saved money by staying with parents until late 20s (parents preferred it), felt like I missed out on the... Tracking Wealth
Hi everyone, I have never formally introduced myself. My name is Rino and living in Montreal...Mostly a dividend investor besides holding ZSP and 1 non paying stock. Besides that, I am a simple man I am writing for a friend of mine who is constantly getting frauded and wondering if it is possible for someone to get their SIN changed to stop the fraud. 3 bank account and all of them are getting frauded. 1st account CIBC...many withdrawls and purchases of small amounts between 1$ going... SIN change?
I've watched a few of these type of videos, and find them fascinating and entertaining. This first video is of a relatively easy recovery, so it only involves Matt, the camera lady (his wife), and the customer. But on bigger jobs, there can be anywhere from four to a dozen people, and sometimes other companies join the effort and work together. Matt's content that I've watched so far is family friendly and the topic of money seldom comes up.
https://macleans.ca/longforms/retirement-is-dead/ some of these stats If true, are shocking. median retirement savings among people 55 to 64 is around $120,000 Forty per cent in this age range have less than $5,000 in savings author regrets never getting into the stock market I feel a little better as a former MF salesperson who sold 2% MERs 25 years ago.
If you are an all-in-one fan, pass go and earn $200... I am referring to DIY like me who maintains assets allocations, typically US/Canada/international equities and fixed income. What would a CFP do ? Sell US? Canada? international? FI? Under what rules exactly ? Sell any equity of the return is X% for Y years? Another variation is % of the peak; up to -10% (then, of what peak), sell stocks ETF, otherwise FI. In my case, I can have peaks for the four assets classes by quarter... I wonder if this is a real bull market in energy? Or just a war-induced spike in oil prices, perhaps. When the war started, I bought a small position in HUC which tracks crude oil. It's performing very well but I think XEG is probably the better vehicle, so I switched into XEG. Looks like a bull market to me:

So, I got a big book in the mail recently for the next proxy meet of Artis. Looks like management wants to push for a merger with RFA Financial. Well, technically the company is called RFA Capital currently. Shares of the REIT will be rebranded to RFA Financial on the TSX if things go through. Date will be Dec 11. I may think on it for a bit, but I don't see why I would vote against it. I'm for the diversification, especially since Canadian REITs continue to die off.
Thefts of copper are on the rise, and they're going after electric vehicle chargers . The price of copper has been rallying like crazy. But hey, I'm sure that's not inflation we're seeing. The government assures me that we have almost no inflation (3.0%), so this must just be yet another "quirk" and not an indicator of high inflation.
