I've pulled the cluster out of the car today to investigate why the illumination isn't working. I found that the metal contact for one of the bulbs has completely disintegrated, see picture. I'm guessing that it's not really possible to effectively repair it so I'm on the look out for another circuit board or cluster. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the mph and kmh clusters? Mine is kmh but would a circuit board work correctly from a mph car?

Anyone ever changed one of these? Apparently it's all done from the scuttle side, but does the whole fan box have to come out, or can you extract the matrix with it still in? I thank you.

Hi all, got an advisory on MOT of corrosion on jacking point passenger side front, can any one confirm these are the parts i need ? one side is shot but welder says to do other side as well

I've fancied changing my Golf for a while now, back to NA with either ITB's or carbs of some description. Just wondering what a Mk2 16v KR with Webber DCOE 45's is like to live with. The Golf is only a weekend toy now really and think I'd like to go back old school really. Never tinkered with Webbers so would be an interesting experiment. I just don't want to shoot myself in the foot really. Thanks, Keith.

What are the emissions requirements for a 1991 Polo GT? I had it checked earlier and the machine asked for a fast idle check which the car failed. I thought all pre aug92 cars were exempt from that? The car is fitted with a catalyst. Cheers.

Going to have to type this quickly, not waste time going into too much detail. I'm struggling to view the Forum, even as a guest, just won't connect / access or sign in denied. Tried multiple solutions, different Wi-Fi / mobile / ISP's etc. etc., all to no avail. Some things never work, others occasionally for a while, then not... no rhyme or reason to any of it. Issues have been going on for months now, initially it was just an inconvenience and trying a few times over got me in, but... Forum Access...

I'm going to change the suspension on my 1990 8v including lowering springs. I've read all the info on upgrading to Mk3 parts (top mounts etc) which allegedly increases ride height by circa 10mm. So if I go for lowering springs which are - 30mm the overall result will be - 20mm compared to standard? The recommended drop to retain some comfort I'm hearing is - 20mm but I can't find those springs listed for the 8v, only 16v so hopefully if I'm right it will be good? Thanks

Think I've possibly made a boo-boo. The cars original Bosch distributor is - Bosch - 0237 024 007 VW - 026 905 205 H Took it all apart yesterday (and glad I did as the centrifugual arms were very sticky from gummed up / solidified grease). Anyhow, everything went fine until reassembly when both the springs decided to make a bid for freedom. Had been taking reference photos as I went along but sods law means the info. Hi all, as mentioned above, I'm looking to buy a mk7.5 GTi , my 1st VW. (if anyone knows of a good manual low miles example- please let me know, I'll be all over it like a rash!) I'm in Cheshire UK, and currently running a 2004 911 carrera S and a 2002 TVR, but figured some practicality might now be a good idea! I'm a mechanical engineer by profession, so not averse to wielding the spanners when needed. Looking forwards to interracting and contributing over the interweb whenever I can. Cheers
