The 2026 Half Century (50km or 50 mile) a month challenge

Welcome to the Twelfth edition of the half century a month challenge THIS THREAD IS FOR RIDE REPORTS ONLY - discussions should take place over in the 2025 chatzone There were already challenge threads for monthly imperial centuries (100 mile rides) and metric centuries (100 km or 62.14 mile rides). So @ColinJ thought it would be a nice idea to come up with an easier challenge for those who don't have the time, energy or inclination to do the longer rides so he created the half... Read more

Trivial things that make you annoyed beyond expectations?

There's a little thing that doesn't bother us at first, like a little foible we find endearing in a loved one until it grows beyond tolerance and makes you want to plunge a red hot poker into thei......but then becomes a MAJOR annoyance. I'm going to go for the trivialest (is that a word? It is now!) thing that causes the most annoyance; i-pod and i-pad. Not the items themselves but their words! They are TOO similar and inevitably lead to you saying one when really, you are trying to say... Read more

'ning sky is lightening above the volcanoes, but it's getting rather breezy out, not a day to be on the high roads brave headwind to say buenos dias to the cactus and get coffee uno before zoom back for cafes and bask

Just had a smart meter fitted and my gas bill on the display is

£16450 and it's just shot up to £43952 within the last ten minutes. The electric seems to be working fine.. It's only been fitted an hour ago. and on the electric I've used 10p I've just called EDF about my mild concerns and said it can take up to 14 days for the gas readings to settle correctly. It looks like it's going to be beans on toast and a card box box to live in from now on.

La Vuelta 2026 ***Spoilers***

Turns out that all Canary Islands finale bets are off for fear that someone might take offence that a team not called Israel in any way might be construed as being an Israeli team. With Madrid having already shrugged its shoulders of the event by organising a car race for that weekend, it's looking like an Andalusian end to the GT year.

Silca hot waxing

New bike on order(from Canyon so not holding my breath) and I'm thinking of going down hot wax route for chain. I currently use Squirt drip and it's been fine but thinking with new bike and drivetrain chain etc I might try hot wax. The Silca system appeals as can use Strip chip on factory grease so saves cleaning faff. So, anyone who does this I'd appreciate any reviews etc. Ive read thread from back in 2024 but must be some here using this now with pluses and minuses of it. Thanks
