Honestly, the main advantage of AviSynth is the simplicity of the language. If one wants advanced control flow with a more complex syntax, VapourSynth already fills that gap. Not saying can't improve AviSynth; but should be done carefully and the benefits will be limited. Backward compatibility remains AVS' strength.

"it's assumed to be faster to decode on CPU and avoid the download" ASS-U-ME ;)
I believe it was a recent change, if one is not logged in.
I have created a pipeline to publish AviSynth/VapourSynth plugins to Linux AUR via GitHub Actions. Publishes Linux builds in Releases for Arch and Ubuntu 22.04. Publishes in AUR, self-compile and -bin variant for large packages. Tracks new releases to update builds. https://github.com/mysteryx93/AviSynth-Plugins-AUR So far I published: - avisynth-plugin-rife-asdg - avisynth-plugin-mvtools2-pinterf - avisynth-plugin-xclean New plugins can be added to the pipeline quite easily. Make a request if you want a plugin added. Debian Repo? Once we have AUR as the "source of truth" with the various plugins, someone could create another pipeline to build Ubuntu builds from the AUR to maintain a repo. AI could definitely help get that done.
I have an observation to make, it may be a bug. Setup: 6 E-AC3 down-mixed to stereo using LAV, PCM output to the TV over HDMI using exclusive mode. TV does not support E-AC3 bitstreaming (too old, only has AC-3) so it's definitely PCM. The audio decoder setting for "Convert Output to Standard Channel Layouts" I find that when it is unchecked, the audio/dialogue is louder than when it is checked (this is good). Observing the status panel when it is checked or unchecked, looks the same both ways, only the L & R channels have bars, the rest are labelled as -. So, is it actually down-mixing to stereo when convert output is checked despite what the panel shows? Because the slightly quieter output made me think the TV is receiving a 5.1 PCM and doing the down-mixing itself. The HUD only says "PCM" though, so it is probably not receiving a 5.1 stream, so in that case, is it perhaps that the mixing coefficients are changed from what is set on the sliders when the checkbox is on, and when it is off it sends what is on the sliders?
Has anyone made anything to undo the PlaysForSure/FairPlay encryption on old Digital Copy discs? In the one I have of Toy Story (from the 2010 Toy Box collection), there's a wmv folder that contains two files: * a 338.4 MiB (presumably low quality) "ToyStory_PORT_EN.wmv" file * a 1.2 GiB "ToyStory_PC_EN.wmv" file There's also a DVDROM/Media folder, which contains a 1.1 GiB "FeatureMovie" MPEG-4 file with no extension. Likely what iTunes reads. Parole Media Player recognizes they're encrypted and says that decryption is unsupported.
Hello gentle people! An unsually short time between releases means a security fix, and that's almost all this release is. Here are the usual links: the MKVToolNix home page , the downloads section and the source code . The Windows packages and Linux AppImage are available already. The other Linux packages & the macOS disk image are still being built and will be available over the course of the next couple of hours. Here are the NEWS since the previous release: Version 102.0 "Little Houses" 2026-09-14 Bug fixes MKVToolNix GUI: executing actions, type "execute a program": all the variables (" ") will now be replaced again in the argument list to the program to be executed. This was broken in v100. Fixes #6306 . Security fixes CVE-2026-90783: avilib: fixed potential heap overflows/invalid memory access in the ODML index handling due to unsiged integer multiplication wrapping around (colloquially known as "overflowing") with specifically crafted AVI files. Affects only mkvmerge as the other tools do not read AVIs. Reported by Tristan Madani (TristanInSec@gmail.com). Have fun! 😁
Zoom Player v23 beta 1 has been released. Download Zoom Player MAX: : https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml Download Zoom Player STREAM: : https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomp...eam_beta.shtml Changes in this beta : * New feature! + Changed feature! - Fixed feature! * Introducing Zoom Player's external media engine! Zoom Player's external media engine provides a few key advantages: 1. Allows you instantly play a new media even as the old media is still in the process of loading, making it ideal for Video Streaming where a network connection may be down and the time out takes too long when using the internal media engine. 2. You're playing a corrupted or partially downloaded media file that freezes or crashes one of the parsing or decoding components. In this case Zoom Player's using the external media engine ensures Zoom Player's user interface remains functional (will not freeze), allowing you to play something else without having to restart. Zoom Player's external media engine is currently disabled by default, but is fully customizable under "Adv. Options / Playback / Smart Play / Settings", allowing you to decide whether it will be used based on the media's file extension, a partial URL or when playing from Zoom Player's video streaming interfaces. In an upcoming release, I plan on converting the external engine to a 64bit process, enabling AI based image up-scaling. * The Video Streaming Home Theater interface has been optimized to use the newer Microsoft D
Done. Thanks.
@Zachs : SupTitle is used by BD3D2MK3D and until now, it has always worked flawlessly. Thanks for that invaluable tool. However, an user has reported here a problem with the subtitles of a specific BD 3D. I did some tests and obviously, there is a strange problem (with the original subtitle stream extracted with tsMuxeR and with the 3D stream produced by BD3D2MK3D). I have been unable to understand why that problem exists, as everything seems normal. Can you have a look ? I'll send you a PM with a download link of the problematic subtitles streams. Thanks in advance.
We started talking about this here https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=186980 but in a nutshell we peaked at 7.4 millions hits per day. The traffic has since come down and the forum is breathing again. Anyway, the storm has passed.
