Not to clutter the thread for Fanuba: Don’t over G the stores Short pickle depressions can cause a hang fire, think 1 second depression But I replied because I wanted to say we’ve gotta revisit the stores over-G stuff, that’s not realistic. Just because there’s a real-world limitation for the pilot to adhere to, doesn’t mean the real weapon magically overstresses and breaks right then. A missile endures way higher accelerations in flight. We can talk about bombs also, that’s nonsense too. Or the pylon for goodness sake. The limitation is there to preserve the airframe or mounting hardware - something that’s basically impossible to simulate in a game. We could still do it, if we want the game-incentive to avoid exceeding real world limits, but the occurence should be much lower because this is artificial. I’d love to tackle it at some point but I have enough projects at the moment.

F-18C throttle idle control

@airtex2019 @jollyfe Thanks for the help. I found the culprit. I installed Vjoy with FoxVox and it allocated itself to R throttle axis (I did not do it). So R throttle constantly sitting at default 50% level and stopping Ctrl I working. After removing the Vjoy binding all is well. Thanks again for assistance.

Switching from system wine 9.0 to umu (proton 10.x)

@MaxWaldorf I don’t think this should be a problem as long as you don’t o mix system packages / debs for proton (are there any? the umu install keeps stuff in its own directory) and wine o keep your wine prefixes separate for stuff run with wine and proton This was my reason for creating a new, separate bms prefix for the proton / umu experiments. It requires some extra disk space but should keep the various bms installs safe from each other (I hope ) All the best, Uwe

@Fanuba It depends on which facial recognition API you’re going to use. If you’re going to use the old reliable 3-LED system and your laptop’s webcam, it generally doesn’t exceed 30 fps, and you’d have to adjust the exposure and sensitivity to avoid capturing highlights from the room’s lighting, both natural and artificial. You can also use a mechanical filter, a kind of small tinted plastic plate that mechanically attenuates the background light, making only the LEDs stand out. In my case, I use OpenTrack with facial recognition. The only downside is that it doesn’t have as much yaw because it goes haywire as soon as the eye-nose triangle is lost. Another thing is that you have to maintain good lighting on your face; it’s no good having the room light coming from above or behind your head, as this would create a shadow on your face, and the facial recognition API would have to fight against it. Another option would be to increase the camera’s exposure. You generally configure the movement profiles to your liking, but they must follow some general rules, especially for military aviation simulators where you have to constantly look for switches on the sides of the panels. You have to create a dead zone in the center so that your neck is relaxed.
