I am aware of the existence of OpenCPN for android and Avnav, but I prefer the Osmand framework and liberties it allows, as well as its aesthetics and UI/UX. Hi all. I'm using the node-red embedded in signalK. All good. I will now try to experiment with/create an alternative "navigation Autopilot", following a route with waypoints. Hopefully somewhat better than the OpenCPN version, which has a tendency to "cut corners" when approaching a waypoint. I will need (for now) three parameters to work with. Current position (updating 1Hz) , as well as two waypoints along the route (next, previous). For retrieving these input data I have installed the node-red-contrib-signalk v1.2.0 My initial problem is that the two (quasi) static WP are not updating in signalK, and the signalk-subscribe block in node-red only receives messages when the values change. The current position streams nicely into my stream, but the two waypoints do not even receive their initial value (apparently). So my question is: In node-red; Is there a way to request the current value for all of these inputs, irrespective of whether they are changing or not? Or alternatively. Is there a more clever way to handle tis in node-red? My only requirement is synchronized sets of the three positions, that I can send into my Python block for further processing... So I have been using my Pi5 for a week or so awaiting the arrival of the Macarthur HAT which came the day before yesterday - thank you. I installed the HAT according to the instructions with the GPIO extender so that the HAT is facing up and aligned with the PI5. All seemed well and very neat see photo attached. Without doing anything else to the Mac HAT I plugged in the USB PSU to the PI5. The red light came on but I could not get the Pi to boot into Openplotter anymore. Just in case the issue was the 12V on/off switch I disconnected the HAT from the Pi and all of the other peripherals and tried booting from a clean Rasp PI SD Card. Red light again. It seems that the simplified installation has bricked the Pi, I have checked the voltages on the PI, I have 5V but no 3.3V. I clearly would like to avoid repeating the mistake. I am sure the GPIO was properly aligned. Full disclosure I have an SSD board underneath the Pi which has been working since original install. A thought that occurred to me I installed a new active fan as the original one was faulty , I watched a number of videos on YT and the weight of advice seemed to support 4 pads one of which is over the PSU regulation. So I ordered a 10'1" touchscreen with ESP32P4 and turned it into a proof-of-concept chart plotter. This unit can't be installed in a boat - it lacks waterproofing, housing is flimsy plastic and screen is really lousy with 400 nits, but for €50 it was a steal. What it does? -it loads mbtiles from sd card (max filesize 2GB, can have multiple files) -fast paging and rendering of chart tiles -queries all navigational data from openplotter through wifi-mqtt -displays AIS targets -has collision alarm -has rudimentary wind rose -has pinch to zoom -has nightmode and hires sun mode -supports sd passthtrough mode (while activated, acts as an sd card reader) -has a night mode -supports creating, saving and loading of routes (gpx) -records tracks (gpx) -has a measuring tool -can drop custom markers -has MOB functionality -has brightness control -by pressing any point in chart displays its coordinates and your distance to it. So it can be done. I'm a bit iffy whether to advance this, next step would be getting a decent screen, waterproofing and dropping wifi and powering with PoE. If anyone is interested in code it is here .

I am interested in compiling a list of 3rd party projects related to pypilot to post on the main site pypilot.org focusing on projects that provide extended functions and/or users can build off to enhance their setup. Unfortunately I have been distracted and did not keep a complete list of everything posted, so I am hoping if I miss any someone can mention it here. I also need to test each of these so I can write up a clear description for each and maybe even a video demoing them eventually and determine the level of usability. For control interfaces: pynav Nerea-Watch-Pypilot signalk-pypilot-newui ekhavana/pypilot-gui pypilotremote BBN M5Stack Tough WiFi-connected-PyPilot Then there is a list of operating systems: openplotter BBN pypilot-nix Perhaps a list of other projects as there are a few implementations for bridging to signalk via a signalk plugin (rather than building signalk logic into pypilot) I would certainly also post electronic designs, but these are more elusive.
