UK Govt are to update the War Book which was mothballed in 2004, after the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War, because of the Ukraine war and other conflicts the War Book will be updated. The thinking now is that WW3 will not be a nuclear war ( the old War Book was based on the premise of a nuclear war and the consequences after such an attack on the UK) it is now thought it will be a conventional war with added Cyber attacks and Drone technology. Russia knows where our undersea cables and have the submarines capable of cutting these cables and therefore cutting communication and supply lines.
