Hi everyone, I am building a stock Crack 1.1 and it has failed the voltage check. All tests prior to this, including the resistance check and the heater glow test, passed successfully. My home mains voltage is 121V AC , and I have wired the transformer primary for the 115V–130V range as per the manual. Here are my voltage check results with both tubes installed (expected ranges in parentheses): Terminal 1: 178V (50V-100V) Terminal 2: 387V (170V) ... Read more

Greetings! New member here. I’ve been lurking for quite sometime now, and in an effort to save money, had talked myself into building a Stereomour ii (not a diy’er at all)…but found a deal on one used. Well, it remains to be seen if it’s a deal or not. I have not received it yet, but the seller says that one channel is not working. He insists that the tubes are working, so prolly a bad solder point? So, in an effort to be ready when I get the amp, what would be the normal order of... Read more
I have spend many hours with the amplifier, latest in the attempt to get the sound to have a higher tonal spectrum: My Klipsch Herecy (ver 2. modified tweeter and midtone horn) simply doesnt give away sound when that is playing. I notised in my research that all soldering need to be perfect, and capacitors should be high quality, so I got these into the amp. Next was to see if all played - but the left PCB did work any more. I also notised that the right board counted down from approx 400V... Read more
Page 86 of the Crack 1.1 Manual, Rev. 2.3 speaks to testing for voltage compliance, but shows Resistance headers for the values (& then shows volts by terminal). I'm assuming it's just that the header should be Voltage?
I got the Crack up and running a week ago, and tested it out all week after touching up a lot of the less than stellar solder joints. I just did the speedball upgrade, and everything seemed to be going just dandily. Checked voltages, and they checked out, LEDs all lit up (although the LEDs on the smaller board weren't quite as bright as they are on the bigger board, but I assume there's just a voltage difference) tubes lit up. Plugged in my headphones, turned up the volume, couldn't hear... Read more
Just wrapped up my Eros 2 build and it works perfectly! It was a fun and challenging build because of the space constraints but worth it! That said, I'm not sure I'm a fan. The top end is rolled off and the bass is pretty muddy, especially when compared to my (also newly completed) Crack/SB. To be completely fair, though, my table is ten years old and in need of basic maintenance (belt replacement, etc). There are too many moving parts (no pun intended) to make any real decision and I'm... Read more

Hello all. I want to connect my old cassette deck to my Moreplay / Sex 4 combo in order to make mix tapes from my vinyl records, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any advice? Apologies if I'm overlooking something obvious. Thanks in advance.

Hi all. I almost hesitate to post because I have a feeling something simple is going on, but I can't think what it might be. Up until the 300B Glow Test, all voltages on the BeePre2 checked out, up to and including the regulated filament voltages (6.33 VDC). After completing the wiring from the regulator boards to the sockets, filaments didn't light for the glow test, so went back to check voltages: • no dc voltage at the circuit board +Reg -Reg test points • no dc voltage at test points... Let's start a topic to share experiences with tube rolling in the Stereomour II. Please share your opinion on different tubes in SII! SI users are welcome to share aswel! I'll try to keep this startpost up to date with what tubes to use in SII. The list of tubes to use in the drivers seat: 12AT7(W)(A)(B)(C) ECC81 E81CC ECC801S 6201 6060 CV455 CV4024 A2900 TS65 B309 M8162 7728 6679 Not direct equivalent... Read more
