The 7th gWWuest - Game thread!

Welcome to my manor. How fortunate that you came. Sixteen guests, if my count is correct. Sixteen souls wandering through the rain, each wondering why they were invited. I assure you, there is no need to wonder. You were invited because you are interesting. You were invited because you are special. You were invited because you each want something that I can give. Some of you are here with the best of intentions; others, well... I advise you to keep your true... Click to expand... Read more

KevinMD: Why doctors won't RX opioids and who profits?

What's your gut-level reaction to this blog? Why doctors won't prescribe opioids, and who profits Why doctors won't prescribe opioids comes down to incentives, not evidence. See how interventional pain management inherited chronic pain, and who profits. kevinmd.com Opioids have acquired a terrible reputation as dangerous drugs, thanks to not one, but two opioid epidemics. America’s first opioid epidemic began in the 19th century following the purification of morphine in 1804. Widespread military use during the Civil War, followed by aggressive postwar civilian marketing, contributed to widespread opioid use. Opioids... Read more

When do you consider reaching escape velocity as far as investments go?

No one really talks about this but blade has mentioned 5m LIQUID then work part time to just pay the bills maybe for another 4-5 years and if you have something left over then invest it of course. This allows u to temper SORR and maybe you may find part time the sweet spot? Does this advice change based on age 40 vs 45 vs 50 vs 55? The stock market with contributions feels like every 4-5 years money has been doubling. I know thats not the norm and a large correction is part of the game.

Lindsay Clancy Trial and Psychiatry

Has anyone been following the trial and have any thoughts? It was worrying how they grilled her psychiatrist, who by all accounts seems to have done right by the patient and didn't seem neglectful to me. I've read discourse online about people calling for mandates on psychiatrists prescribing SSRIs and for there to be less or no telehealth. I just think this was such a difficult case, where the patient was hospitalized in an inpatient setting and no one saw evidence of postpartum psychosis.

Class of 2028... how you doin?

Hi guys! Mods, feel free to delete this if one already exists but I couldn't find it anywhere. First week of classes for many of us, I assume, so how is everyone doing? So far so good for me. I am sure the level of rigor will ramp up significantly more as we approach midterms (and I actually begin Structure and Function, which I am dreading a bit to be honest). I do feel like I am already juggling about 10 group projects.

VEG - pros and cons

Hi! Current 3rd year vet student at LIU. I've been interested in VEG and their NERD program. I recently completed a 1 week externship at their Hoboken location and had the BEST time. I would like to hear from other VEGgies that completed the NERD program and moved on to working as a DVM for them, as I'm trying to get as much insight as possible. I'm interested in the hospitals in the CA, NY/NJ, TX, and FL areas if anyone has any info for me on their experience! From what I heard, it really... Read more

socialism

A lot of writers that frequent this site have come out strongly against socialism and have mentioned on several occasions that a lot of our current systems are socialist constructs with many coming from liberal Democratic administrations. Looking broadly at Trump, I think there is a very strong argument that Trump's policies may be some of the most socialist ones seen in our lifetime. Even beyond tariffs, which are obviously a state means to control production, other policy choices... Read more
