Old thread What are we doing in the Garden 2025 I bought a plant Pulmonaria officinalis (Common Lungwort) on donation basis from the garden in Avebury. I’m now thinking about where to plant both Astrantia Rose, the new one from today, and 4 Helenium and 7 Echinacea. Decided to take out the Johnsons’ Blue and move both Hardy Geraniums from the Japanese bed and plant the Pulmonaria instead.

Received an email to say my choice of seed potatoes were now in stock, so order placed. Anya, one I have not grown for a while, my wife requested red potatoes so Rooster and Java also ordered, just a kilo of each as we don't have a huge amount of space.

Hello all, I have been gardening many years but have never really got into Iris. Since they are good in hot baking weather, I figure it might be an idea to investigate them. Is it a rule of thumb that bearded irises are the ones that like having their rhizome 'baked' and any other irises would generally fit into liking pond marginal/damp areas or is that a massive oversimplification (I'm ignoring bulb irises!) ? I'm looking for a good purple one for a hot area. Thank you.

Having just been to Lisbon and experienced the misting that happens underneath cafe umbrellas, I can attest to the cooling properties of said nozzles. As English summers are only likely to get more regularly hot, I want to use this misting to cool the vegetables, and possible for watering if I can get the right size nozzle, First purchase of nozzles and tees from Amazon has not been productive.
